Tucked away in the historic Treasury building, with one of the most breathtaking views of the Bridge of Lions, lies Stella Maris Health Spa - a sanctuary of healing and renewal. Inside, guests will find an array of services: massage therapy, skincare, light and sound therapy, and more. But behind this haven of wellness is a story just as powerful as the treatments themselves - the story of it's founder, Kat Randell.
Kat's journey began right here in St. Augustine, years ago, as a single mother raising her young son. Life wasn't easy. They relied of food stamps, found warmth in a local soup kitchen, and faced challenges that most would never see. When her son was diagnosed with cancer, Kat found herself searching for answers - for a reason that no one could giver her, and for a way to ensure a better future. That quest became the catalyst that let her back to school and eventually into the world of holistic health.
Before opening Sella Maris, Kat had a very different life. - as a dancer in the circus arts. But a devastating injury left her nearly bed-ridden for two years. unable to walk and unsure of what the future held. The recovery was grueling, but in that healing journey, she discoverer the very practices she would later offer to others. What began as a personal road back to health soon transformed into a mission to help others reclaim their own.
Today Kat is a dedicated massage therapist and wellness coach specializing in injury recovery, acupressure, and reiki energy work. But what truly sets her apart is her passion for sound and frequency therapy - a growing field backed by science, using applied sound to reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and support cellular regeneration. Bu fusing ancient healing traditions like Chinese medicine and acupuncture with emerging technologies, Kat has positioned herself - and Stella Maris - as a bridge between the modern medicine and holistic care.
Kat doesn't just want her client to feel better - she wants them to understand their healing. Her goal is to create a space where science, medicine, and the mid-body-soul connection come together. A space where people can leave not only transformed, but empowered.
The name of her spa, Stella Maris, means Star of the Sea - a fitting symbol for her mission to be a guiding light in the world of wellness, just as the North Star guides sailors home.
But Kat's vision extends far beyond the spa's walls. She's also committed to being a bridge with the St. Augustine community - connecting people with local nonprofits and amplifying their missions. Through her ongoing partnerships, she hosts quarterly events that raise funds and awareness for the causes close to her heart. Her most recent event, a Forth of July celebration, supported Our Mother's Stewards, with proceeds benefiting their organization and giving them a platform to share their work.
In every facet of her life - from personal healing to professional service, from local partnerships to community advocacy - Kat Randell is a force for change. Her journey is one of resilience, purpose, and heart. And through Stella Maris, she's helping others find their own path to wellness - one sound wave, one healing touch, and one story at a time.
