                                            Hello Everyone,
I hope this finds you well. Recently a client encouraged me to demystify, or to clarify massage. That’s a big ask! See, massage is like most things in life, it comes in a wide variety.
On one end, you have your basic relaxation, or Swedish massage. That’s a very light touch, usually not much, if any stretching. Great to unwind after a long day, or stressful day/event.
On the other end, I’d say is where I specialize. It’s very specific, sometimes deeper pressure to rehabilitate an injury, or to deal with chronic pain. This can also include terms like: sports medicine, Neuro Muscular Therapy, medical massage, etc…
In-between each end is definitely a bit of a grey area. How does one figure out what you need, and the right therapist for you, or your issue. It’s all about communication. The client being honest about what’s going on, and what goals they have.
On the therapist side, we need to be willing to say no to a client if we know they are not who we usually help. Or, in my case, I have a long list of people waiting to be seen. If I start seeing people outside my specialty, it takes away from the people who need the rehabilitation work, and takes away from another therapist.
In the end, that benefits everyone! So, if you reach out to someone, and they say that they can’t help you, or your better off with another person, it’s only for your benefit. Relaxation massage puts ME to sleep! 😳😂
Anyway, I hope that little piece of the puzzle helps, as this is a big/complicated topic!
I hope you all have a great day!
