💖 A Heartfelt Reminder of Our Mission 💖
We are grateful to share a story that highlights why Ancient City Education and Training is dedicated to teaching CPR. On January 19, 2026, a quick-thinking bystander recognized a cardiac arrest emergency, called 911, and began CPR, giving the patient the best chance at survival. When SJC Fire Rescue arrived, they restored the patient’s heartbeat, leading to a full recovery in just four weeks.
With fewer than 10% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victims surviving, it’s crucial for community members to learn CPR. This training not only builds confidence but also significantly improves survival rates.
To the bystander who recognized the urgency of the situation and initiated CPR, your bravery and calmness in that moment made all the difference.
To the dedicated team from SJC Fire Rescue, your professionalism and teamwork in restoring the patient’s heartbeat are commendable. Your commitment to saving lives is an inspiration to us all.
On January 19, 2026, Tower 1 and Rescue 1 responded to a cardiac arrest in Zone 1. Prior to our arrival, a young bystander quickly recognized the emergency, called 911, and began CPR — a critical action that helped give this patient the best possible chance of survival.
When our crews arrived, the patient was in cardiac arrest. Firefighters and paramedics immediately began our cardiac arrest protocol, utilizing advanced equipment including the EleGARD and LUCAS device. Through the coordinated efforts of the entire crew, ROSC (Return of Spontaneous Circulation) was achieved, and the patient was transported to Mayo Clinic for further care.
Today we are incredibly grateful to share the outcome: the patient made a full neurological recovery and returned to work just four weeks later.
Recently, she and her family stopped by the station to personally thank the crews and even brought lunch for everyone. Moments like these remind us why we train, why we work so hard, and how powerful early CPR and teamwork can be.
We would like to recognize the members of Tower 1 and Rescue 1 for their professionalism, skill, and dedication that helped save a life.
And a special thank you to the bystander who stepped in and started CPR — you truly made a difference.
