It's almost time for the 31st Annual Tips for Kids' Sake, which will take place on Tuesday, February 3rd, and Tuesday, March 3rd, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

This year's memorable theme is the Wild Wild WEST, and it ain't just any ol' hootenanny —it's the biggest gold-rush fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Johns County.

This high-spirited jamboree teams up hometown eateries across town with our own band of "Celebrity Outlaw Waiters," local legends bold enough to trade their spurs for aprons.

These fine folks ride the dining floor, servin' with charm and grit, and every last dollar tossed their way in tips goes straight to BBBS of SJC, helpin' us reach more kids who could use a steady hand and a fair shot so them young'uns can blaze a brighter trail!

Sign up today and see the complete list of eateries and Celebrity Outlaw Waiters at www.bbbsstjohns.org/tips-for-kids-sake.html. Can't make it? You can still contribute by leaving a tip on our website.

EPIC Behavioral Healthcare is proud to be the sponsoring agency of Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Johns County.

Provisional CDC data for calendar year 2024 estimate about 80,391 drug overdose deaths in the U.S., down from about 110,037 in 2023, a decrease of 26.9%. One of the causes of this decline is the distribution of naloxone.

EPIC Behavioral Healthcare provides free naloxone (Narcan) at all five of our campuses listed below. Making naloxone available is a significant step forward in providing a safe and stigma-free way for anyone to access this medication and help prevent opioid overdoses.

EPIC is participating in the iSaveFL Overdose Prevention initiative, made possible by the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Even one drink a day elevates your cancer risk. No one wants to hear this and many people are not aware of the increased cancer risk of drinking alcohol.

"Alcohol is the third-most preventable cause of cancer in the U.S, putting it just behind to***co and obesity.

As the surgeon general’s report highlights, alcohol is associated with approximately 100,000 cancer cases and 20,000 cancer deaths every year, playing a role in breast, liver, colorectal, mouth, throat, esophagus and voice box cancer cases. Alcohol-induced cancer deaths outnumber alcohol-associated traffic crash fatalities every year."

At EPIC Behavioral Healthcare, we provide resources and information to encourage people to discuss mental health and seek services. Our program serves adults, adolescents, and children ages four and older. Call us today at (904) 829-2273.

The government linked alcohol with seven types of cancers, prompting the US surgeon general to call for warning labels on beer, wine and liquor.

Substance use disorder is a chronic condition that causes people to repeatedly seek and use drugs, even when it leads to serious harm.

The good news: Treatment works, and recovery is possible. Medications can help manage withdrawal symptoms, reduce cravings, and stabilize brain chemistry, making it easier for individuals to engage in and benefit from counseling and behavioral therapies.

About EPIC Behavioral Healthcare

Our mission is to strengthen our community by providing person-centered care to individuals and families impacted by substance use and mental health disorders, and other behaviors through a comprehensive system of Education, Prevention, Intervention, and Counseling.

Our vision is to be the primary leader of quality, comprehensive behavioral healthcare in our community.

EPIC Behavioral Healthcare (EPIC) believes that recovery from addiction, substance use disorders and mental health disorders is real. People can, and do, overcome the internal and external challenges, barriers, and obstacles that confront them. EPIC agrees that addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing brain disease that is characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. EPIC also recognizes that many individuals served by our agency are challenged by a mental health disorder. While treatable, EPIC believes that substance use and mental health disorders impact all areas of an individual’s life, including all of their relationships, vocational/education goals and skills, emotional well-being and their physical health. For both substance use and mental disorders, our commitment is to provide effective, affordable, evidence-based, culturally-sensitive and comprehensive care to impacted individuals and families.

EPIC has historically incorporated the idea of, “wellness,” into our programs. This allows EPIC to have the best outcomes for our clients. EPIC focuses on formalizing its commitment to overall wellness for our clients using SAMHSA’s (Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration) 8 Dimensions of Wellness as a guideline.
