📦 Volunteers Needed – Sorting Event! 📦

We received a huge donation of items from TikTok Shop, Temu, and Amazon, and we need help opening and sorting everything for an upcoming sale that supports our mission.

Honored to be featured in today’s Daily Herald!

I’m incredibly proud to share that Support Over Stigma was highlighted in the Daily Herald for our MLK Day of Service event!

On January 19, our amazing community came together — 48 volunteers strong — to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy through meaningful action and service. Together we:

✔️ Packed 400 shelf-stable meals to help combat food insecurity
✔️ Prepared 250 blessing bags for homeless veterans
✔️ Assembled 2,500 snack packs for first responders
✔️ Created 100 essential care bags for the VA
✔️ Laid the groundwork for upcoming programs with outreach packing

This event was made possible by generous support from Wheaton Elks Lodge #2258, DuPage County Board District 6, and the incredible volunteers from Blue Star Families Chicagoland Chapter who showed up with heart and dedication.

Dr. King reminded us that “everyone can be great because everyone can serve.” Our volunteers lived that message by showing up not just in numbers — but with compassion and purpose.

A huge thank you to the Daily Herald for helping us amplify this work and to everyone who continues to support our mission of uplifting those who have served and continue to serve our communities.

A little sunshine on this bitter cold day.

On MLK Day, our community showed up in a powerful way.

With the help of 48 volunteers, Support Over Stigma packed hundreds of meals, blessing bags for homeless veterans, snack packs for first responders, and essential items for the VA, and more - directly supporting those who serve and those facing food insecurity & homelessness.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Said, "Everyone can be great because everyone can serve," and that spirit was felt throughout the day as people from all backgrounds came together for a common purpose.

This incredible day was made possible thanks to generous grants from Wheaton Elks Lodge #2258 and DuPage County District 6, and the amazing volunteers, many of whom were veterans or members of Blue Star Families- Chicagoland Chapter.

We are so grateful for you all!
