PSA FROM THE ST CLAIR LICENSE OFFICE...Lately, we have witnessed unnecessary panic caused by misinformation regarding the REAL ID and would like to make some clarifications. The federal government's mandate applies only to specific situations, such as domestic flights, military bases, and certain federal facilities. It's important for all to understand that other documents, such as passports and TSA approved documents will serve the same purpose as the REAL ID and grant those who hold these documents access to these sane places. The misinformation that has been passed along by the media and/or those speaking about this topic has caused undue stress to Missouri citizens, which has lead to overcrowding g of local license offices. This results in long wait lines and frustration for all concerned. We can't stress enough...THERE IS NO DEADLINE TO OBTAIN A REAL ID. It does become effective on May 7, 2025. You may apply at any time before or after that date. Please understand this and be respectful of all license office employees during this time. We do not create the rules for acceptable documents. If you have any concerns please contact the Director of Revenue, Senator, or Secretary of State.
