🎉 Holy Shats, it's our 1 year Anniversary!🎉

We can’t believe it’s already been a year since we opened our doors. It has truly been such a pleasure serving the Greater Ohio Valley and getting to know so many wonderful patients along the way.

Over the past year, we’ve grown our office and stayed focused on what matters most: providing the highest level of care and support to every patient who walks through our doors. Thank you for placing your trust in us.

In the next few months, we’ll be moving to a new location (just down the street!) and expanding our services with the opening of our very own endoscopy center, giving patients more choice and convenience for their care.

Thank you for being part of our first year. We’re so happy, so grateful, and so excited for what’s ahead!

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month, and there’s an alarming trend people need to know about: colon cancer is now the #1 cause of cancer death in people under 50.

For years, colore**al cancer was considered a disease that mainly affected older adults. That’s changing quickly, which is why awareness, early screening, and paying attention to symptoms are so important.

If you’re under 50, don’t assume you’re too young to be at risk. Talk to your doctor if you have symptoms like persistent abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, or changes in bowel habits.

I wish this wasn’t something we had to talk about, but sometimes the best way to honor someone we’ve lost is by learning from it.

Recently, many of us were saddened by the passing of James Van Der Beek. It sparked important conversations about the realities of colore**al cancer, including how it can affect people who seem healthy and are under the age many of us thought was “safe.”

At Shats Gastro, we see firsthand how early detection through screening saves lives. In fact, a colonoscopy can prevent the cancer from ever even happening. That’s why the medical community now recommends beginning routine colonoscopy screening at age 45, not 50. Especially for those with risk factors or a family history.

A colonoscopy isn’t just a procedure. It’s a proactive step you can take to protect your health, catch issues early, and give yourself peace of mind. It’s understandable to feel nervous about it, but screening truly is one of the most effective tools we have against colore**al cancer.

If you’re 45 or older, or approaching that age, take a moment to think about your health. Talk to your doctor. Ask questions. And if you’re due for a colonoscopy, consider making the call sooner rather than later. 💙🩵

This past weekend, Dr. Shats traded colonoscopies for choreography for this year’s Dancing with the Ohio Valley Stars event, all to support the amazing work of the Augusta Levy Behavioral Services Learning Center.

While the competition was tough, Dr. Shats shined on the dance floor earning 2nd place overall and taking home a special trophy for Charisma and Chemistry!

We’re so proud to be part of a community that comes together to support such an incredible cause. We are beyond grateful for everyone who cheered him on and donated to help make a difference.

Congratulations to all of this year’s dancers and the team at Augusta Levy for an unforgettable night!
