👟 Doctor’s Orders: Yes, Shoes Indoors Can Be Good for Your Feet! 👣

We’re not saying you need to wear your street shoes around the house — but the right indoor shoes or supportive house slippers can make a big difference.

For patients with:

✔ Flat feet
✔ Arthritis
✔ Plantar fasciitis
✔ Knee or back pain
✔ Pain from walking on hard floors

Supportive house shoes can help reduce discomfort and improve daily comfort.

The key is choosing clean, indoor-only shoes that offer cushioning, arch support, and stability.

Not every shoe is right for every foot — from supportive sneakers to cushioned slip-ons and house shoes, finding the best fit matters.

If you’re dealing with foot pain at home, we can help recommend the best type of support for your needs.

🎨💖 One of the sweetest parts of our day is the beautiful artwork we receive from our amazing little ones in the office.

We are so often gifted adorable drawings, coloring pages, and sweet notes that truly make our whole office smile. Moments like these remind us how special our patients and families are to us. 🐭 🍄 🐴

We wanted to share these precious masterpieces with everyone because they absolutely brightened our day — and we hope they brighten yours too! 😊

🍄 Not All Fungus Belongs Where It Grows… Especially Not on Your Feet. 🦶

Just like this fungus growing on a tree, fungi thrive in warm, moist environments — which makes your feet the perfect place if conditions are right.

👣 Athlete’s Foot & Toenail Fungus are Common — AND Treatable.

You might notice:
• Itchy, peeling, or cracked skin
• Burning or redness between the toes
• Thick, yellow, or brittle toenails
• Nails that become discolored or hard to trim

These infections don’t usually go away on their own — and can spread if left untreated.

✨ The good news? Early treatment is simple and effective.

✔ Keep feet clean and dry
✔ Change socks regularly
✔ Wear breathable shoes
✔ Don’t ignore changes in your nails or skin

If something doesn’t look right, let us take a look. 👀

At Tri-State Foot and Ankle Center, we’re here to help you get back to healthy, comfortable feet.

👣 What Does Your Foot Arch Look Like? 👣

Your arch plays a huge role in how your body absorbs shock, maintains balance, and moves efficiently.

🔹 Normal Arch
A normal arch helps the foot move through a healthy motion pattern during walking. The foot briefly rolls inward to absorb shock, then stabilizes to push the body forward efficiently.

🔹 High Arch
High arches tend to be more rigid and don’t absorb impact as well. This can lead to increased pressure on the heel and forefoot and may contribute to issues like:
• Ankle sprains
• Stress fractures
• Heel pain or plantar fasciitis

🔹 Flat Feet
Flat feet often roll inward too much (over-pronation). This can place additional stress on structures that support the arch and may contribute to:
• Posterior tibial tendon problems
• Plantar fascia strain
• Knee and leg alignment issues

🦶 Why This Matters

Your feet are the foundation of your body. Changes in arch structure can affect how forces travel through the ankle, knee, hip, and even the lower back.

If you experience foot fatigue, arch pain, frequent ankle sprains, or changes in the shape of your foot, it may be related to your foot biomechanics.

👣 👟 Did You Know? Taking Care of Your Feet Could Help You Live Longer. 🍎 🧠

For patients with diabetes, foot care is about so much more than preventing complications.

A large study found that people with diabetic foot complications who saw a podiatrist had:

✨ Significantly lower risk of mortality
✨ Better chances of keeping their limbs
✨ Shorter hospital stays

Early treatment can prevent serious complications later. 👩🏼‍⚕️

If you have diabetes, don’t wait until there’s a problem. Diabetic foot checks can catch issues early and protect both your mobility and your overall health. 🦶

At our office, your feet are more than just feet — they’re your foundation. And we’re here to keep you strong, safe, and moving.

🌼 Spring is Here! Time to Step Forward with Healthy Feet. 👣🌱

As we set our clocks forward and welcome longer, brighter days, it’s the perfect reminder to check in on your foot health. Spring often means more walking, outdoor activities, and time on your feet.

Before you hit the trails, parks, and spring events, take a moment to make sure your feet are ready for the season.

🌿 Spring Foot Care Tips:
✔ Check your shoes for proper support and worn-out soles
✔ Ease back into activity if you’ve been less active during winter
✔ Treat heel pain, arch pain, or ingrown nails early
✔ Schedule a visit especially if you have diabetes or circulation concerns

Healthy feet help you stay active and enjoy everything spring has to offer! 🥾 🌞 🌼

👟 Are Your Shoes Hurting Your Feet? 👟

Did you know that more than half of all foot problems are linked to wearing shoes that don’t fit properly? 👠

Too tight.
Too loose.
Worn out tread.
No support.

Your feet carry you through every single day — and the wrong footwear can lead to bunions, heel pain, ingrown nails, instability, and even falls. 🥾

✔ Make sure your shoes fit properly
✔ Choose supportive, slip-resistant soles
✔ Replace worn-out shoes regularly
✔ Don’t ignore foot pain

If something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait. Small issues can turn into bigger problems.

❤️ Heart Health Month: It Starts from the Ground Up 👣

Your heart and your feet are more connected than you may think.

Healthy circulation is essential for keeping your feet strong, warm, and pain-free. When blood flow is compromised, your feet are often the first place signs appear — including:

• Cold feet
• Numbness or tingling
• Slow-healing wounds
• Cramping with walking
• Changes in skin color

Your feet quite literally carry you through life. Taking care of your heart means taking care of your foundation.

This Heart Health Month, make movement a priority, monitor your circulation, and don’t ignore what your feet may be telling you.

If you have diabetes, vascular disease, or concerns about circulation, we’re here to help.

❄️ 🥾 Winter Traction Matters More Than You Think ❄️ 🥾

That snow-packed tread might look harmless… but icy surfaces are one of the biggest causes of winter foot and ankle injuries.

This time of year we see an increase in:

🧊 Ankle sprains
🧊 Fractures from slips on ice
🧊 Tendon injuries
🧊 Worsening heel and arch pain from unsupportive winter boots

Not all boots are created equal. Deep tread patterns help — but worn soles, smooth bottoms, and poor support can put you at risk.

✔ Check your tread before heading out
✔ Replace worn winter shoes/boots
✔ Choose slip-resistant soles
✔ Walk flat-footed on ice (short, slow steps!)
✔ Don’t ignore swelling or pain after a fall

If you’ve taken a spill and something “just doesn’t feel right,” don’t wait. Early evaluation can prevent long-term problems.
