Love your pet but not a fan of sneezing? You’re not alone: many people who own pets are allergic to cats or dogs, even if they may not realize it.

If symptoms of pet allergies flare up, focus on reducing allergen buildup: clean frequently (including couch covers, curtains, rugs and pet beds) and use HEPA air cleaners, when possible, to remove airborne particles. Our ENT experts are here to help recommend additional treatment options during your next visit!

Hearing care is easier when you don’t do it alone. Research shows people with hearing loss who have higher levels of social support report lower anxiety, depression and stress.

Try this on your next visit: bring a family member or friend to speak about your treatment options with your hearing healthcare professional.

Ringing in your ears can feel exhausting, but if you already wear hearing aids, relief might be closer than you think. Wearing your devices regularly can reduce listening stress and anxiety through helping your brain focus on sounds you want to hear.

If you have hearing loss and tinnitus, talk with your hearing specialist about the settings on your devices and how to use them for tinnitus support!

Can you believe it has been 60 years since St. Cloud Ear, Nose & Throat first opened its doors? As we celebrate, it’s only fitting to look back at some fun facts related to our founders who helped shape our clinic from the very beginning.

Dr. Koop founded the clinic September 6th,1966: He wasn’t just the clinic founder; he was also the chief cook at staff picnics, where the success of the hamburgers famously depended on him. He earned the nickname “Colonel Koop” thanks to his military service, and his growing group of grandkids made him one of the clinic’s very first grandparents.

Dr. Schlorf joined in 1972: He became a legend at clinic gatherings and picnics due to his love for food, friends and festivities. He was also known for his love of presents, and for celebrating his 50th birthday in an unforgettable fashion (complete with a gorilla costume).

Dr. Jurgens joined in 1974: He may not have mastered making his own coffee, but he more than made up for it as a grill master at staff events. He once took the team sailing in 1985, and his beloved Mercedes even became part of clinic lore when it needed a jumpstart (courtesy of a coworker’s tiny Chevette).

Decades later, these stories still capture the humor, camaraderie and heart that continue to define St. Cloud ENT to this day. Join us in congratulating the entire team on a successful run!

Meet Jenny Prater, Health Information Assistant and our St. Cloud Ear, Nose & Throat Employee Spotlight for March!

“I’ve worked as a Health Information Assistant—our fancy way of saying medical scribe—for nearly nine years at SCENT. It was my first real “adult” job, and I hope it will be my last. I’m incredibly grateful to be here, surrounded by such fantastic coworkers and supportive leadership.”

This year marks our clinic’s 60th anniversary! As we celebrate this milestone, we want to take a minute to introduce you to the three physicians who started it all.

Dr. Koop founded St. Cloud Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic on September 6, 1966. A highly skilled physician and surgeon, he established the standard of clinical excellence that guides the practice today and helped shape the clinic’s culture of teamwork, integrity, and service.

Dr. Schlorf joined the clinic in 1972. An accomplished physician and surgeon, he strengthened the clinic’s reputation for high-quality care while contributing to the strong sense of camaraderie among staff and colleagues.

Dr. Jurgens joined the practice in 1974, bringing both clinical expertise and a collaborative spirit that further expanded the clinic’s capabilities. Known for his dedication to patients and colleagues alike, he shaped the supportive, patient-centered environment that continues to define the clinic today.

Together, these founding physicians were not only exceptional clinicians and surgeons, but also the architects of the values that continue to guide St. Cloud Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic today: dedication to patients, commitment to excellence and a deep connection to the community we serve.

Dreading the stuffy nose and sneezing this season? We understand that it can sometimes be tricky to differentiate between a cold or seasonal allergies.

Itching of the nose or eyes points to allergies; fever and body aches point to a cold. A dry, tickly cough often accompanies allergies, while a wet cough that thickens or yellows is more typical of a cold.

Still curious? We can help you sort it out. Schedule today at any of our 5 locations! No referral required.
