About Inspired Fitness Owner and Coach, Kristi Youngdahl:
She may be a nutrition expert, author, spiritual guru, personal trainer, successful entrepreneur, national fitness competitor, and a published international fitness model, but don't let that fool you. Kristi is a passionate wife, a mother, philanthropist, and a woman who once struggled with obesity and lack of self-love, just like many of you. The possibility of waking up and LOVING herself and her life! No longer chasing skinny and instead choosing to love herself and value the vessel that housed her soul. Kristi not only dropped the 85 lbs, but she also discovered the secret to creating and sustaining a healthy, happy life. Now her greatest passion is passing that gift on to others. Through the Inspired Fitness mission, Kristi is inspiring others to value themselves as she empowers them to transform their lives through nourishing the mind, body, and soul. She believes we are capable of anything when given the right tools. She and her clients are living proof---and you can be too! Cipro and the rest of the Fluoroquinolone family is given out far too liberally in our health care system and one of the most toxic poisons to our mitochondria, in some cases, irreversibly so. Before taking an antibiotic, PLEASE request a culture and sensitivity test and use them judiciously. If you are someone who gets recurrent infections... dig deeper.

The latest “black box” warning focuses on an array of neurological problems associated with these antibiotics. For emergency clinicians, the fluoroquinolone antibiotics have been a staple in combating both outpatient and inpatient infections. The first fluoroquinolone (ciprofloxacin/Cipro) came ...

Happy Mother’s Day to all you women making a significant difference in the lives of children! I pray every woman who has touched the heart of a child, takes time today to celebrate the life or lives they have impacted. I pray all of us adults remember those precious women who made a difference in our lives. Love doesn't require legal papers... neither should Mother's Day.

To all of you ladies... HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! 💖

If you think you can exercise your way to weight loss, I am sorry to say you are in for a big disappointment.

Using exercise to lose weight without changing your diet is asking for failure. You can change your diet and lose weight, but if you exercise and keep your diet the same, you may gain some muscle, improve endurance, and be healthier overall, but you won’t shed many pounds.

However, exercise is still vital to your health as people who habitually sit have as much risk of dying as people who have bad diets or smoke. Being sedentary also increases risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

Not only that, but exercise helps you with stress reduction, improves your brain health, reduces your risk of chronic disease, and much more!

You can simply start with moving for 30 minutes a day. Getting into great shape doesn’t mean hours at the gym, plodding along on elliptical machines or suffering through classes lead by punishing drill-sergeant instructors.

While I hate to exercise, I love to play. I find different things that keep me fit. I encourage you to explore all the fun things you may enjoy and save exercise for those times when you just can’t find a way to play on your own or with someone else.

Some genes can predispose you to obesity, type 2 diabetes or heart disease. But predisposition is not predestined.

Ninety percent of our current health is controlled by the environment in which we bathe our genes. The way you eat, how much you exercise, how you manage stress, and your exposure to environmental toxins all contribute to things like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and of course, heart disease. You don’t have to sit back and accept that you’re doomed to become fat and sick.

Your environment, in turn, changes gene expression, subsequently modulating inflammation, oxidative stress and metabolic dysfunction. These are the reasons we get sick and develop heart disease along with other problems.

That’s actually good news.

Addressing and fixing the root causes benefits most chronic disease. These 9 modifications will make you feel alive and healthy without the side effects of medication.

1. Eat a healthy diet
2. Balance your blood sugar
3. Increase your fiber
4. Avoid processed foods
5. Increase omega 3 fatty acids
6. Eliminate all hydrogenated fat
7. Reduce alcohol intake
8. Exercise
9. Manage your stress levels

Removing gluten from mine and my children’s diet has made a significant difference. Our 20 year old was having heart palpitations, (after months of seeing a cardiologist with no answers), she removed the small amount of gluten she was still consuming... BAM! She was symptom free within days.

Removing gluten isn’t a replacement for seeing a doctor. But... it’s certainly worth trying while under a doctors supervision.

Patients are always asking me if they should avoid gluten, even if they aren’t experiencing symptoms.

The research points to yes. Gluten has been found to negatively impact the lining of the gut, creating “leaky gut” or intestinal permeability, even in those who do not have celiac disease.

The lining of the gut is supposed to be strong and tight, keeping food, waste, and microbes inside the digestive tract. Gluten can cause the release of an inflammatory protein called zonulin, which opens up the junctions in the lining of the gut and causes gaps, allowing particles to leak into the bloodstream (where they don’t belong) and creating an immune response. This sets the stage for systemic inflammation.

That’s why gluten is not a part of my Pegan diet. Gluten-containing grains, like wheat, rye, and barley, aren’t serving our health, but they are hurting our health—it’s a pretty clear dietary choice when you think about it.

In my own practice, I’ve noticed that gluten is the most common food sensitivity. Even if a doctor tells you your tests for gluten antibodies or celiac are normal, you can still have a severe reaction.

But as gluten-free gains popularity, food companies – that are well-aware of a potential marketing opportunity – turn out processed, sugary junk foods as “healthy” gluten-free alternatives.

Don’t be fooled: Gluten-free junk food is still junk food loaded with artificial sugars, food coloring, added gums to help things stick together and additives to increase shelf life while decreasing yours.

When you ditch crackers, cookies, breads, and pastas made with gluten and gluten-free junk food, you have more room for nourishing, real foods like colorful vegetables and high-quality fats, which many people don’t get enough of.
