DELORES H. VOSS

Delores Helen Voss of Holdingford, Minnesota died last Monday very peacefully at the Centra Care Melrose Hospital surrounded by loving family. She was just short of turning 95 years old.

Delores was born May 24,1931 in St. Anna to Leo and Helen (Schulte) Jarmuzek. She had nine brothers and sisters. She was the second oldest of the children. Delores attended St. Anna school through grade 7 and then transferred to Albany for the eight grade. An unfortunate accident from jumping off a shed with her friends (boys, mostly) resulted in a fractured arm which sent her to the Gillette Children's Hospital driven by her doctor from Melrose hospital at the time.

Delores stayed there for 3 months rehabiliating and being tutored. And, yes, that same doctor brought her back home due to transportation issues at the time.

As a growing young lady, she was hired out for babysitting and cooking for farm families When she met a handsome Vos boy (spelling at the time) at the St. Anna Ballroom, he chased and finally caught her. Vernon and Delores married on February 7, 1950, lived in Albany for a bit, then moved to their forever home in Holdingford. Delores stayed home to raise their kids but eventually applied as a cook for St. John's University and continued for 34 years liking the breakfast shift and fellow cooks.

Delores and Vern were happy to live in Holdingford and added on housing sections as well as kids. Through the years Delores enjoyed camping, water skiing, family get-togethers especially as the nuclear family grew with more smiley faces. She traveled more with her kids/families both in Minnesota, a couple of cruises, and to Cancun, Mexico. Her expression after being asked to come along, "why not?" Delores was always the one family member everyone loved to greet and hug. Smiling and laughing was just her disposition all the way to the end of her precious life.

Delores is survived by her children: Vern Jr (Bery) St. Joseph; Linda Theisen (Dan) St. Joseph; Sandy (Dan) Sowada, St.Anna; Terry (Sheila) Sartell; Jeff, Sartell; Russell (Sarah) Sartell; Greg (Nancy) Sauk Rapids; Tim (Peggy) Sauk Rapids, also daughter-in-law Cathy Voss, Little Falls; sister Marie Angulski, C**n Rapids;and many very active grand children, great grandkids, and great great grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon Sr. (2008), daughter Ruby (2013), grand son Ryan Voss (2016) , son Kevin (2002), and 8 Jarmuzek siblings with brother-in-law Ed Angulski recently deceased.

The Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated Monday, April 27 at the Church of All Saints-St. Mary's (ASSM) in Holdingford at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon on April 26 from 2-5 pm at the Miller Carlin Funeral Home with another brief visitation one hour before services on Monday at the Church.

The Delores Voss family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to Melrose Hospital for excellent care during her short stay. Dr. Chmieleski and nurses enjoyed that little lady. Thanks to the Holdingford Rescue Team who came out a few times for all those serious falls/fractures she sustained especially the fall down those vertical basement steps a few years ago. Hugs to the helpful, caring neighbors bearing treats, an extra hand, and those fresh flowers Karen Larsen ad Jennifer Majeski; the Eucharistic Ministers from each Sunday (ASSM) for ministry and caring visits each Sunday.

Delores' parting message to her Voss children was "I love you all. Think happy thoughts of me." Nice message to everyone who touched her life.

MICHAEL ERNEST ODDEN

Michael, "Mike" Odden, 80, of Holdingford, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, surrounded by his close family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Michael was also a lifelong educator, accomplished artist, and dedicated community leader whose influence extended across generations.

Mike was born on September 1, 1945, in Tioga, North Dakota. He pursued his passion for both learning and creativity at Minot State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He began and ended his teaching career at Holdingford High School as an art teacher after more than three decades until his retirement in 1999.

Throughout his years in education, Mike inspired hundreds of students to explore their creativity and think independently. Known by many as the "cool teacher", his classroom was a space where curiosity and artistic expression were encouraged and valued.

Following his teaching career, Mike brought his analytical mindset and intellectual curiosity to a second professional chapter, working for 13 years as a research analyst at TopRank Marketing, a B2B marketing agency based in Minneapolis.

Mike was committed to bettering his community, serving on the Holdingford City Council for 20 years and as a founding member of both the Holdingford Jaycees and the Holdingford Historical Society. His involvement in the arts extended beyond his personal work through his service on the Central Minnesota Arts Board and his participation in the Resurrected Artists theatre group for many years.

A highly versatile and prolific artist, Mike worked across a wide range of mediums throughout his life, including pottery, metal sculpture, drawing, and knife making. In his later years, he focused on painting, developing a distinctive body of work that was exhibited in galleries throughout Minnesota. His art reflected a deep exploration of materials, form, and imagination.

His creativity also found expression in more unconventional ways. In midlife, Mike enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and became known among friends for customizing motorcycle tanks with one notable piece featuring the image of King Tutankhamen done in gold leaf. Whether in the classroom, the studio, or completing home landscaping and remodeling projects for his adoring wife, he approached every pursuit with curiosity and craftsmanship.

Mike also contributed to the literary arts, co-publishing Minnesota Fantasy Review, a science fiction and horror magazine that showcased his interest in storytelling and independent creative expression.

Above all, Mike was a beloved family man. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth; his children, Lee, Tiffany, and Christopher; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His family was at the center of his life, and he will fondly be remembered for the wagon rides he gave his grandchildren to the "push-up store", the depth of his kindness, and the generosity of his encouragement.

Michael leaves behind a legacy defined by creativity, service, and meaningful impact on his family, his students, his community, and the broader arts landscape in Central Minnesota.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 1st, 2026, at Art in Motion in Holdingford.

CORA L. STOCK

The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Cora L. Stock, age 12 of Holdingford, will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 16, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala. Burial will be in the St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Greenwald at 2:00 PM. Cora died at her home on Friday morning from complications of Rett syndrome. There will be a visitation from 4:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, and 10:00-11:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary’s church in Upsala. Miller-Carlin Funeral Homes are making arrangements.

Cora was born July 22, 2013, in St. Cloud to Adam and Anita (Trisko) Stock. She lived outside of Holdingford with her parents, brother Joseph, and sister Elsie. She attended Holdingford School, where her journey ended in 7th grade.

Cora’s contagious smile lit up any room. She loved to laugh, smile, tell jokes, and jam to Raffi. She always had an ear to listen to and a hand to hold.

Cora was a huge supporter of her big brother playing football, shooting archery, and golf. She got so excited when he was shooting archery; she cheered out loud when everybody was silent, but nobody minded. She could also be found court side cheering her little sister on at volleyball or basketball, or giving her a burst of speed at the finish line of a race. She loved watching movies, being outside, and just hanging out with Joey and Elsie.

The bond she had with Grandpa Trisko is unforgettable. Many laughs, jokes, sayings, naps, and who knows what else will never be forgotten. They were two peas in a pod.

She had the brightest spirit imaginable and lit up any room she rolled into. She loved school and loved being included in class. Her teachers and classmates always included her and asked about her when she wasn’t around. Most of all, she loved being with Patty Jo, whether it was cruising with her wheels, listening to Raffi, watching movies, she loved every moment with Patty Jo. Many smiles, jokes, and belly laughs will always be remembered. Whether she was telling jokes in school, swimming, or making crafts, she was brightening everybody's day.

Cora had a love for adventure and was always with family. From dipping her toes in the Atlantic Ocean to the top of a 14er mountain. She loved short jaunts in the countryside and epic road trips through multiple states. She was there and cherished the experiences. She loved hiking, four-wheeling, biking, camping, and fishing. She was along for numerous open water and ice fishing adventures, from Two Rivers to 16 miles out on Lake of the Woods. Her favorite activity was cruising the lake and letting the wind blow through her hair. Fast or slow, big ship or little boat, you could tell by her smile and her laugh that she loved it.

Survivors include her parents, Adam and Anita Stock, her brother and sister, Joseph and Elsie Stock, all at home in Holdingford. She is also survived by her grandparents, Gerald and Linda Trisko of Greenwald, and Daniel and Debra Stock of Longville, and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

She is preceded in death by Cousins Danielle Johnson and Gabriella Freeman.

Special thanks to Holdingford School District, Stearns Benton Education, Morrison County Sheriff Department, Mayo Ambulance, Upsala First Responders, Dr. Avery of Family Medical Center- Little Falls, Minnesota Epilepsy Group, and many other medical facilities and professionals.

In honor of Cora and her bright, beautiful spirit, please wear bright colored clothing to her service.

ANN GRUNKE

Ann Grunke died peacefully at Quiet Oaks Hospice on April 7, 2026, two and a half years after her pancreatic cancer diagnosis. Ann was born to Cliff and Flora Lundburg of Lakeland, Minnesota, on September 26, 1952. She was a graduate of Stillwater High School, the University of Minnesota and the Masters of Fine Arts Program at Vermont College.

Ann met Fred Grunke, her future husband, at Coffman Memorial Union on the U of M Campus. A few years later she thankfully decided to join him in St. Cloud rather than continue her promising career as a paralegal at a big Minneapolis law firm. It didn’t take long for the couple’s mothers to figure out that both Ann and Fred were delivered by the same doctor. Their forty-eight years together were filled with gardening, camping, politics, the joys and struggles of raising a family, the editing of each other’s writing, and, most importantly, daily laughter.

Ann was an accomplished poet and fiction writer. She was the recipient of a 1996 Minnesota Book Award for her collection of short stories entitled “Revealing the Unknown to a Pair of Lovers.” She also contributed numerous stories and poems to anthologies, literary journals, and national publications.

Ann generously shared her writing skills and exercises by teaching creative writing and journaling at area colleges, high schools, and nursing homes. A significant portion of her teaching was devoted to at-risk girls and residents at Anna Marie’s, where she also volunteered as an advocate.

Ann was a perfectionist. When asked to write a series of gardening columns for a local publication, Ann felt that she didn’t have sufficient credentials. She proceeded to complete the training and volunteer hours necessary to become a Stearns County Master Gardener.

Ann was a loving wife, a nurturing and engaged mother, and a loyal friend to many. She is survived by Fred, her children Sonja, Andrew, and Michael, and her three older siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents and only grandchild, Maria. The Family is sincerely grateful to the providers at Coborn Cancer Center and Mayo Clinic for enabling Ann to travel and spend precious time with family and friends in her final years. We are likewise thankful that Quiet Oaks provided comfort, care and dignity in her final days.

A visitation will be held at Miller Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud from 3-6 PM on Tuesday, April 14th. Ann’s memorial service will be held at Peace United Church of Christ at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 15th.

Memorials preferred to Quiet Oaks Hospice and Peace United Church of Christ, St. Cloud.

JOHN STEVEN TAYLOR

The services celebrating the life of John Steven Taylor, age 58, of Sauk Rapids, will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Grace United Methodist in St. Cloud. A visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, April 17, at the church, as well as one hour prior to the service on Saturday. John passed away on April 3, 2026, with his family by his side. Arrangements are being made with Miller-Carlin Funeral Homes.

John was born on April 11, 1967, in Shakopee, Minnesota, to Steven and Glenda (Ekern) Taylor. He married Angela Pfarr on September 25, 1999, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and their union welcomed two daughters into this world, Chelsea and Paige.

For 12 years, John served the Anoka‑Hennepin School District, where he took great pride in his work.

John was a truly selfless man who served others throughout his life. Whenever anyone needed help with any task, he was there with a smile and no complaints. His love languages were many, with acts of service near the top. Lending a hand on building and remodeling projects, volunteering for wiring jobs, making treasured gifts for his family, or reprogramming a remote for his father-in-law, no task was too big or too small for John to be there.

John was a fun-loving person who made the most of his too-short life. He was a dutiful son, remarkable brother, amazing father, devoted uncle, the best ‘Buppa’ to his grandkids, friend to all, and a one-of-a-kind husband.

He and Angela loved their life together, their family, and their awesome friends. In the earlier years of their marriage, they embraced raising their girls. He loved to watch them play soccer and dance in their shows. He made all his daughters’ friends feel special and loved, too.

He dutifully drove Angela north and south on weekends to attend football games, or hockey and volleyball tournaments where his niece or nephew was playing. From peewee hockey games to college football games, John could be seen cheering on his nephew in the stands. He never missed a special event with his loved ones.

As his daughters got older, family still came first, but friends became more of a focus too. Wonderful weekends every summer were spent hanging around a campfire throughout the state of Minnesota, with Two Harbors being one of their favorites. City on the Hill Christian Music Festival was an annual camping tradition in Duluth. Four-wheeler adventures where the muddier and dustier made it all the more fun. Music by the lake, bible study gatherings, and attending concerts were weekly activities with their friends.

John could make the most of any situation and always had a positive attitude. Most people would not have enjoyed spending their summer and fall in a hospital or at the Hope Lodge in Minneapolis, but he and Angela made the most of it by making friends wherever they went. They brought a special joy to everyone they encountered and lit the hearts of many. Even in his final weeks, he touched lives, including those at the Coborn Cancer Center.

The shoes John is leaving unfilled are too big to be filled by just one person. There are very few people in this world who serve and love as many people as fully as John did. The constant inquiries, loving texts, and visitors during John’s final month were proof of just how deeply loved and cared for John was.

John is survived by his loving wife, Angela Taylor, his daughters whom he cherished, Chelsea (Brady) Judovsky, Sauk Rapids; and Paige (Steven Anderson) Taylor, Grand Marais, two grandchildren, Brooks and Ziggy, his mother, Glenda Taylor, and his siblings, Natalie (Floyd Pfennestein) Rein, St. Augusta; and Dan Taylor, Sauk Rapids.

John was greeted in heaven by his father, Steven Taylor.

May the memories of the wonderful man John was encourage us all to be better, to live life more fully, to love others unconditionally, to not sweat the small stuff, and to embrace every moment we have. Let us live the kind of life John would have loved to continue living.

LLOYD AND BRENDA BUTTWEILER

The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the lives of Lloyd and Brenda Buttweiler, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 11, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church until the time of the service. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are being made by the Miller-Carlin Funeral Homes.

Lloyd Buttweiler, age 87, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, and his beloved wife, Edith “Brenda” Buttweiler (née Hayward), passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, both at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.

Lloyd was born on December 22, 1938, in Collegeville, Minnesota, to Eberhard “Hardy” and Catherine (Douvier) Buttweiler. Brenda was born on March 4, 1939, in Lucknow, India, during the British Raj, to Frederick and Lucy Hayward. Though they began their lives worlds apart, their paths would ultimately cross in England, where Lloyd was stationed during his service in the United States Air Force.

Brenda’s early years were shaped by the challenges of World War II, including a dangerous journey to England and the bombing of her London neighborhood. After her family home was destroyed, they relocated to the village of Whittington. These experiences helped form her strength, resilience, and deep compassion for others. She later attended boarding school, where she developed a love for art, adventure, and learning. At the age of 16, she converted to Catholicism, a faith that remained central throughout her life.

Lloyd proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years after enlisting on March 12, 1956. During his time in England, he met Brenda at a dance near the base. On their first date, Brenda cleverly left her handbag in Lloyd’s car to ensure she would see him again—a small gesture that led to a lifelong love story. They were married on October 7, 1961, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Reading, England, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 64 years.

Following Lloyd’s retirement from the military, they made their home in Albany, Minnesota, where they raised their four children. Lloyd later worked in the Food Service Department at St. John’s University until his retirement. In 1998, Lloyd and Brenda moved to New Mexico, where they enjoyed 19 years surrounded by the beauty of the mountains before returning to Minnesota.

Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and service. They shared a love of travel, camping, fishing, gardening, baking, and exploring the world—whether on road trips across the United States or travels throughout Europe. Lloyd was known for his strong work ethic, generosity, and love of fixing and building things, often spending time in his garage working on projects. Brenda was known for her no-nonsense wit, creativity, and steady perseverance. She was a gifted artist and enjoyed sketching, painting, embroidery, and knitting, often sharing her creations with loved ones.

Both Lloyd and Brenda were deeply committed to serving others. Lloyd volunteered countless hours at local food pantries and with his grandson’s Boy Scout troop. Brenda dedicated her time to numerous causes, including supporting immigrant families, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, CCD, local schools, Boy Scouts, NAMI, and various food pantries. She was also a lifelong advocate for mental health, always emphasizing compassion, dignity, and understanding.

Lloyd and Brenda were devoted to their family and are survived by their children, Mark Weiler of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sharon Buttweiler of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Denise (Jason) Sesler of Allen, Texas; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Brenda is also survived by her brothers, Bob Hayward of Sydney, Australia, and Bill Hayward of Weymouth, England.

They were preceded in death by their son, Gary (2011); Lloyd’s parents and siblings, Mary Lou Raden, Ken Buttweiler, Delores Lorsung, and Dora Groth; and Brenda’s parents and brothers, Reginald and John Hayward.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mother of Mercy Nursing Home and Moments Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Brenda’s favorite charity, NAMI.

JACOB "JAKE" RAUSCH

Celebrating a Life of Love, Strength, and Laughter

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jake Rausch, who died suddenly at his home on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born in St. Cloud, MN, on September 12, 1941, to Charles and Genevieve (Genz), Jake lived a life marked by love, strength, and dedication. He married Mary Krippner on April 18, 1970, at St. Anthony’s in St. Cloud, and together they built a life first in Rice, MN, then in St. Cloud, before settling in Clearwater, MN. Jake owned and operated a mobile home repair company, later working as a truck driver for Brown Wilbert Company in St. Cloud.

Jake was known for his strong presence, his generous heart, and his unwavering commitment to doing things the right way. He took pride in giving his best to everything and everyone he loved, often using his favorite word—“perfect”—not because he demanded flawlessness, but because he believed in striving for excellence. His sense of humor, love for storytelling, and infectious laughter left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He cherished his family above all else, delighting in time spent camping, watching old westerns and WWF, and most of all, encouraging shenanigans and laughter with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jake’s bold spirit was reflected in his favorite color, red, and his family invites all who attend his Celebration of Life to wear red in his honor.

Jake is survived by his loving wife, Mary; daughters, Stacie (Tony) Woods, Tonia (Shawn) Makarrall, Tabitha (Lance) Voigt, and April (Shawn) Bechthold; grandchildren, Myah (Nate) Middendorf, Gabriella (Austin) Hanson, Luke Woods, Caleb (Tabitha) Clyne, Kennady Clyne, Karly Clyne, Levi Voigt, Vaughn Voigt, and Arianna Bechthold; great-grandchildren, Raegan Middendorf, Runar Hanson, River Clyne, and baby Middendorf due this summer. He is also survived by his siblings, Gail Meyer, Tom (Gayle) Rausch, Jim (Markie) Rausch, Ron (Jeanne) Rausch, Dave Rausch, Nancy Thompson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Genevieve; brothers, Charlie and Barry; and sisters, Ione, Joyce, Linda, and Mary.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jake’s life on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the St. Augusta Legion, beginning at 3:00 PM. Please join us to remember an amazing man, share stories, and honor a life well lived, and to join us for dinner and cash bar. Jake will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
