Here's a fun piece of history about CALVIN FREDERICK TAYLOR (B: 10 June 1924 - D: 10 December 1981)

In March of 1955, an article for The Honolulu Star was written about the Navy Squadron that Calvin was in. It included a photograph - Calvin is third from the left, crouched down. Please read the whole article, but here's the summary:

Patrol Squadron 28’s Crew 9 is shown by their P2V–5 Neptune long-range patrol bomber reenacting the popular game of “beat the clock.” Allowed 60 minutes to brief, obtain intelligence, navigation and communication publications, check aerology, file flight plan, warm-up and check aircraft and equipment, taxi out and takeoff on a special tactical mission, this Navy crew did it in 37 minutes. They beat the “game” and simultaneously broke the previous squadron record by 18 crucial minutes.

I actually have the original typed paper for the article. As you can see in the images below, it is literally falling apart. I just got it scanned finally today on a large format scanner. (The papers are almost legal sized.)

GENEALOGICAL BRANCH:
Calvin Frederick Taylor
Calvin Ricks Taylor < who is father to >
Amy Taylor Van Riper -->which makes him Amy's Grandfather

*If you are related to the Taylor Family and are unsure of who this is to YOU, let me know, and I can work it out.

Happy Birthday, Sherman Tecumseh Beighley! Born 159 years ago today! B: 1 January 1865 - D: 19 June 1947

Sherman was born the 6th of 10 children. He married Eminna (Minnie) Van Fleet at age 30 in 1895. Minnie died during their 30th year of marriage in 1925. Sherman remarried in 1933 at the age of 68. I have no evidence that he ever had children. In his newspaper obituary, other family members are referenced but no children (his second wife had adult children when they married). He lived in Wisconsin his entire life. He died in 1947 at the age of 82 and is buried in a plot with his first wife, Minnie.

The photo below was likely taken in the mid 1890s.

GENEALOGICAL BRANCH:
Sherman Tecumseh Beighley < who is brother to >
John Williams Beighley
Jesse Bernard Beighley < who is father to >
MaryLou Beighley Taylor < who is mother to >
Amy Taylor Van Riper -->which makes him Amy's Great-Granduncle (brother to Amy's Great Grandfather)

Not to be confused with Sherman Tewalt Beighley, who is a brother of Jesse Bernard Beighley.

*If you are related to the Beighley Family and are unsure of who this is to YOU, let me know, and I can work it out.
