Disabilities can manifest in various ways, which may impact a person’s ability to read, write, calculate, or understand information. Many individuals with learning disabilities possess unique talents and abilities that should be celebrated. By raising awareness, we can break down barriers, promote early detection, and provide appropriate support and resources to help individuals thrive in all aspects of their lives.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month!

Down Syndrome, also known as trisomy 21, is a genetic condition caused by the presence of an extra copy of chromosome 21. Around 5,000 babies with Down syndrome are born each year in the U.S., making it the most common chromosomal condition.

This month and every month, we honor the uniqueness, abilities, and achievements of every individual with Down syndrome, promoting a world where opportunities are limitless and acceptance is unconditional.

Aveanna patient Alex and his mom recently took an incredible trip to Greece over the summer! Alex has been passionate about Greek mythology, and he couldn't wait to see all the ancient Greek history himself. Thanks to the care he receives from his mom and his Aveanna care team, he was able to make that goal a reality!

During the trip, Alex enjoyed getting to see the famous architecture and try all different kinds of foods including lamb, olives, and tzatziki.
He and his mom were part of a tour group that organizes accessible and inclusive trips for those with disabilities, and they met many new friends along the way.

We're so thrilled that you were able to go on such a special trip, Alex!

Aveanna is excited to celebrate Pediatric Nurses Week! This unique awareness opportunity is a great chance for us to celebrate pediatric nurses and all they do for our patients and their families.

Across the country, our pediatric nurses work tirelessly to ensure our patients receive the best care possible so they can live their happiest and healthiest lives at home. Their selfless dedication to our company mission truly makes them the heartbeat of all we do at Aveanna.

To the pediatric nurses who work with our patients in their homes, as well as the nurses who work in hospitals around the country, thank you for all that you do to keep our kids safe and happy!

Aveanna is honored to recognize National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, a poignant reminder of the battles fought and the strength embodied by those affected by this disease.

Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women in the United States. The American Cancer Society estimates that 1 in every 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, underscoring the importance of education, early detection, and proactive healthcare.

Aveanna stands firmly beside every individual impacted by breast cancer, offering compassionate and caring support. We celebrate the courage of survivors and honor the memory of those we have lost to this disease, acknowledging the profound impact it has on families, friends, and communities.

Aiyanna was born in August 2023. She spent the next 8 months in the NICU, fighting through surgeries and setbacks before transitioning to a pediatric long-term care facility.

As the months passed and Aiyanna improved, her mom dreamed of having her home by her second birthday. The local Aveanna team did everything they could to get Aiyanna home as close to that milestone as possible. Just a little over two weeks after she turned two, Aiyanna came home for the very first time with help from her Aveanna care team.

Aiyanna is now thriving at home, surrounded by family and supported by her Aveanna nurse. We are honored to be part of her journey and can't wait to watch her continued growth!

Aveanna is proud to recognize World Heart Day, a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease (CVD) and encourage communities to advocate for heart health. 2025 is especially unique because it marks the 25th anniversary of World Heart Day.

According to the World Heart Federation, CVD kills over 20 million people each year. However, 80% of premature deaths from CVD can be prevented by simple changes to diet, exercise, and stress management.

This year's theme for World Heart Day is "Don't Miss a Beat," an initiative to raise awareness for the fact that so many people are missing out on time with loved ones due to early deaths as a result of CVD.
