September is Su***de Prevention Month and it is so important to me and my life.
When I was 20, my best friend, Devin, whom I had known since elementary school died by su***de. He was the kid who made everyone laugh, said the most outrageous stuff and loved with his whole heart.
I had not seen him since the winter break during our freshmen year of college but his death hurt. It hurt knowing I would never see him again. I would never be able to see what he would have gone on to do in our world. It still hurts. But he lives on every day by guiding all the people he cared about, in more ways than he will ever know.
He is a huge reason why I picked being a mental health counselor for my career.
We miss you everyday Dev! 💚
