It has come to our attention that there have been phone calls made to patients recently that have not come from Simplicity Health. These callers are requesting confirmation of personal details. One method that scammers are using is cloning a phone number, so it looks like the call is coming from a company you know. Most of these calls have been targeting Medicare patients.
Unfortunately, there is not much that you or we can do to prevent this. It is a legal requirement that we confirm your identity before speaking over the phone regarding a patient matter. But we cannot prevent a scammer from appearing as if they are calling from our clinic.
If you are ever concerned if the number calling you is legitimate, hang up and call the number back. If you are speaking to a Simplicity Health employee, we will understand.
We would also like to point out that we are not in clinic on Saturday or Sunday, so you will never receive a call from us on a weekend, unless YOU HAVE CALLED US FIRST.
This is a known issue in the surrounding community; the Waite Park Police Department has a social media post regarding. If you are concerned that your personal details may have been mistakenly disclosed to an unauthorized individual, please contact your local police department.
