Over the last few weeks of July, CentraCare - Willmar completed the second session of its Summer Careers Discovery Program. Students explored a variety of health care careers and gained confidence in shaping their future plans. Several students shared their gratitude for how hands-on learning helped them recognize the connections between the work of our team members and the meaningful impact that it has on each patient!

In just a few short weeks, a full class of 24 students will begin their journey at the new University of Minnesota Medical School CentraCare Regional Campus in St. Cloud.

Yesterday, the community had the chance to explore the brand-new campus — featuring a fitness studio, classrooms, offices, lab spaces, and inviting common areas — and connect directly with faculty to ask questions.

Over 50 students attended Scrubs Camp interactive sessions at the Plaza to explore careers in healthcare. They were introduced to team members from departments such as Neuroscience, Respiratory Therapy, Laboratory Services, Emergency Trauma, Imaging, Family Birthing, Home Health and Hospice, and Genetics.

Throughout this fun, hands-on day, students practiced CPR, first aid, tourniquet application, and DNA extraction. They also tried out medical tools, interacted with a birthing mannequin, and used MRI machines.

We’re excited to see these students become future healthcare leaders!

Opening this fall, the new CentraCare Plaza Campus will welcome 24 medical students each year. This significant milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to growing and supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals — right here in Central Minnesota.
