Oola Doulas of Minnesota

Oola Doulas of Minnesota Birth is a divine, unscripted event. The Oola Doula's will help build confidence, empower you and support you on this adventure called BIRTH.

Birth is an event that you should remember for your entire life. As professional labor support, we recognize this special time and would like to help nurture and empower you. You should feel supported and safe, without judgments. Birth is not just a physical game but largely a mental one! Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily (dona.org). A Birth Doula understands the process of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor. She assists in preparing for and carrying out the preferences for birth. She stays with the woman through labor and after, providing emotional support, physical comfort, and an objective viewpoint to aide momma's in making the best, most informed decisions possible. We protect the memory of this experience and know one thing for sure - birth always works out!

Hello friends 👋🏻 you may or may not have noticed that we’ve been a little quiet on here. We’ve been in life transitions and at this time Rachelle and Erin are not taking clients. However, Caitlin is continuing to accept clients! We are well connected to doula’s in the area as well. If Oola Doula’s is unavailable to take your birth, we can help find someone who can! ❤️

Just a few reminders for you 😘

When it comes to birth, have you ever heard the phrase “cascade of interventions”? This is a series of events that can occur after just one intervention has been started (pitocin, epidural, induction, etc.) The idea is that it opens the door for many other interventions to occur, and could lead to a birth experience you do not want, envision, and [often times] results in interventions that aren’t necessary.

We can not stress this enough: the birth work you do during pregnancy is SO important. Knowing your options, knowing the risks and benefits and knowing what you want out of your birth experience will help the decision making process that much easier. Especially when you are in an extremely vulnerable position. We know that the more educated you are, the more you openly discuss and work through previous trauma. In addition, the more time you spend preparing your body for birth, the better the outcomes. We’ve seen it firsthand.

This post is NOT intended to make Mama’s feel any sort of way about a previous birth experience. You made the decisions you did with the knowledge you had at that time and that is NOT to be felt bad about! This post is purely informative. And we just want you to have the best experiences for YOU. No guilt, no shame, just healthy, informed and empowered mamas and babies. 💕

There’s no love like a mothers love 💕

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there our love goes out to you!

To the mama holding her new baby trying to navigate this journey.
To the mama trying to juggle it all.
To the mama struggling to conceive and this day is hard.
To the step-moms.
To the mama-to-be as she prepares to welcome a baby.
To the angel baby mamas who are missing a piece of their heart.
To the mama who’s lost a child.
To the mama watching her children grow so quickly.
To those who have lost their mama.
To those who step in as mama.
To our OolaDoula mamas.

One day would never be enough to honor all that you do for those you love. You’re unconditional love, support, smile, and coordinating skills are like no other. You’re enough. You’re loved. You got this.
You are superhero mama. 💕

“Every time I get to tell my son’s birth story I end up singing the praises of my doula! I not only got to have a successful and unmedicated VBAC, but my whole labor and delivery experience was so beautiful and positive. I really believe having Caitlin there was the key, she was amazing! I will be using the Oola Doulas again for any future babies!”

A birth plan:

NOT just a bunch of thrown together requests and wishes.

A birth plan gives your health care team parameters to what’s really important to you during your labor and birth. Whether it’s something you want, or don’t want, and your priorities for the best experience.

When building your birth plan it’s important to leave room for flexibility and the unexpected. Which, speaking of the unexpected, a birth plan can help with that too! When building a birth plan you essentially go over a ton of options/scenarios. In doing so you talk about and through what you would do in those scenarios should they come up. The conversation around building your birth plan will allow you to make an informed decision instead of feeling panicked or being pressured.

Decisions made in a vulnerable state can result in regret, distrust, or longing. A birth plan can help remind you of your end goal and keep everyone on the same flexible page. This experience is one in a lifetime and it is important to us that you have the most positive experience possible and feel confident in the way things play out!
