The Friendly Forager

The Friendly Forager Empowering you to Identify, Harvest, Prepare and Store wild food and folk medicine. It feels a bit spiritual - consuming and becoming part of the wilderness.

I'm Tanna Worrell, and I love eating weeds. :) They are abundant everywhere - gardens, woods, fields, and streams. It feels a bit rebellious - eating Wild Food instead of Grocery Store Food-Like substances. It's a little scary at first, knowing what to pick and eat safely, so I have had several teachers and knowledgeable friends to help me out - and I expect to be learning about wild foods and folk medicines my whole life. I can help YOU out, too, as we explore the green goodness right here in our back yard, and in our neighborhoods.

In return, you'll get to meet some of the super nice folks who live there, eat a yummy lunch, and learn about permaculture growing practices.

Sooooo, I've been playing around with a fun idea lately. How would you like the possibility of purchasing The Friendly Forager WildFlour Sourdough breads? They would have inclusions like dried wild greens (think Nettles, Garlic Mustard, etc), maybe made with some kind of wild tea instead of water (think Sumac, Goldenrod, etc). Whatcha think.......does that sound interesting to you??

Have you heard about the Tiny Timbers Agrihood in St Croix Falls? It's a tiny home community tucked in to the woods not far off of Highway 8. I'll be teaching some classes there this spring and summer, and you are welcome to join us there!

You guys, this is what I love about Wild Food in the spring. These are some of the "weeds" that we pulled from the garden to get ready for planting non-wild food. I've always said I get just as much food out of my garden BEFORE I plant it as I do after I plant, lol!
On the left are wild carrot roots, in the middle are nettle, wild mustard and chickweed, and on the right is dandelion roots.
Go eat weeds, my friends! 😁
