Highlighting this powerful woman Hannah Frehner who is our Office Manager and one of the Owners of MEND. I will be forever grateful Hannah joined the leadership team at MEND. She is one of the hardest workers I know and the glue that truly holds MEND together. If I have 1000 ideas she keeps me grounded in 5. I can trust her implicitly and if you’ve earned her loyalty it is a special place to be. Hannah is a core reason the ship sails smoothly here and we couldn’t be more thankful 🙏🏼🦋💙 to have her wisdom and leadership!

MIND and BODY...Somatic therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on the connection between the mind and body. It is based on the idea that our physical sensations and experiences can affect our emotional and mental well-being. One of the main goals of somatic therapy is to help individuals unwind their nervous system, which can be particularly beneficial for those who have experienced trauma or chronic stress.

EXERCISE...Another way to unwind the nervous system and reduce stress is through exercise. Regular exercise has been shown to increase the production of endorphins, which are natural feel-good chemicals that can help to reduce stress and anxiety. Exercise can also help to regulate the autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for controlling our body's automatic functions such as heart rate and breathing.

CONNECTION...Attachment bonds refer to the emotional connections formed between individuals, particularly between children and their primary caregivers. These bonds play a critical role in the development of children's emotional and social skills, as well as their ability to form relationships throughout their lives. Attachment bonds can be secure or insecure, with the former resulting in positive developmental outcomes and the latter leading to emotional difficulties and relational challenges

UNWINDING...Mindfulness meditation: Mindfulness meditation involves focusing our attention on the present moment and accepting our thoughts and feelings without judgment. This can help us become more aware of our bodily sensations and recognize when we are experiencing tension or discomfort.

REGULATING THE NERVOUS SYSTEM...One effective way to unwind the nervous system and get out of a stress response is through deep breathing exercises. When we take deep, slow breaths, we activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for promoting relaxation and rest. This, in turn, helps to counteract the effects of the sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response.

HEALTHY ATTACHMENT BONDS WITH OUR CHILDREN...To create and maintain secure attachment bonds, caregivers need to prioritize responsive and consistent care. This means attending to a child's needs promptly and predictably, providing a sense of security and safety. When caregivers respond in a timely and caring manner to a child's cries or distress, the child learns that they can trust their caregiver to meet their needs, which builds a sense of security and attachment. https://mendcounselingcenter.com/blog/f/building-healthy-attachment-bonds-with-our-children
