A couple of months ago, the founders of Abby Lou, Jeremy and Lisa Creager, received the Ila Maria Goodey Award from the Utah Department of Health and Human Services. Abby Lou Services was nominated as the best day program in the state of Utah! Jeremy and Lisa were honored for their contributions to disability care, as Abby Lou is the only program in Utah offering a 100% community-based day program.🤩
The award was created in memory of Ila Goodey, who contracted polio at a young age but went on to earn a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Utah. She made lasting contributions to the disability community, including helping to legalize handicapped parking in Utah. Ila was a trailblazer, advocating for changes in federal, state, and agency regulations, and promoting self-determination long before it became a national movement.
We are deeply honored to receive this award and to be recognized in connection with someone whose values and advocacy continue to inspire everything we do.
Thank you to our amazing clients, staff, friends, and supporters—this would not have been possible without you!❣️
