This is what four boxes of around 2,000 individually packaged Painted Lady Butterflies looks like! We are excited to release them TOMORROW at 10:00 a.m. at our sixth Annual Memorial Butterfly Release with Zion’s Way Home Health & Hospice! Whether you release a butterfly individually or together with family and friends, it is sure to be an exciting and healing experience! We hope to see you there at J.C. Snow Park.
THE PROGRAM: For those coming, we will start the program promptly at 10:00 a.m. and it will last about 20 minutes culminating in a collective butterfly release. So, please come early! The park is beautiful this time of year. Be in your seats before 10:00 a.m., enjoy the park, enjoy music, enjoy each other and enjoy a beautiful morning together! The brief memorial program is designed to honor all of our loved ones who are no longer with us, patients and bereaved family members served by Zion's Way Home Health & Hospice St George and this year‘s community dedication recipient Michael Cox.
THE BUTTERFLIES: For now, they are sleeping peacefully thanks to being carefully packaged and refrigerated. This does not harm the butterflies! Prior to the program, we will remove the refrigerated ice packs, and they will wake up! At least, we hope they do. 😉 They are kind of a big part of the program. 🦋 In our experience holding this event over the past six years, all of the butterflies have woken up and, thankfully, very few have been harmed; although, it has happened. We encourage everyone who comes to this event to be respectful of the butterflies and avoid harming them. ***Note: During the metamorphosis process, a natural substance (red-ish in color) is produced. This is not blood. Often, a bit of this substance is found inside the individual butterfly boxes which you will open. We want our guests to know that this is normal and that it doesn’t mean the butterfly has been harmed.
PARKING: There is limited parking at J.C. Snow Park but there is additional parking located at nearby Dixie High School and the Dixie High School baseball field. Please note that it is about a three minute walk from the park to the baseball field and about a five minute walk from the park to the high school parking lot. ***Golf cart shuttles, operated by volunteers, will be running between the high school and the park for those in need.
FOOD AND DRINKS: Following the butterfly release, our amazing food and drink vendors will begin serving our guests. Please do not ask the vendors to serve you until after the program and accompanying butterfly release. Thank you! Our vendors will stop serving at 12:30 p.m.
See you tomorrow!
