Yoga Younion

Yoga Younion Yoga Younion is a movement based yoga asana studio. Come grow with us. A community oriented space to connect to yourself and others. Join us.

This is not a fitness studio, although strength, balance and flexibility gains can be a side effect of practicing yoga asana. Our classes include meditation, and yoga philosophy in addition to mindful movement and breathwork. Yoga can help you manage the stressors of daily life, it can also challenge you to grow on and off your mat. We're here to help you build compassion for self and others to create a more just and equal world.

Heading into the weekend April is off for a bit. Michele is teaching Thursday night, Megan Friday lunch and Alex Saturday morning. The first teaching of yoga is Ahimsa, non harming and the first quality I look for in a teacher is kindness. Kindness is the root of non harming. All 3 of these teachers have their own unique way of bringing self acceptance and compassion into their classes. Come tend to body heart and mind with them and good community.

Fall Schedule ♥.
I paired back Monday mornings a smidge from a 2.5 to a 2, hopefully so more folks will feel up to it. (Don't worry current 2.5 lovers, I will still find ways to challenge you). We fused together the Friday Fitness chair class and the Friday lunch flow class into a fusion class that is sure to mobilize you in all kinds of ways. All else remains to the same. Join us, the answer to the question on "when should I start?" is "now".

I really enjoyed this article My (April) first teacher training was heavy on alignment for "safety" reasons. My second had modules with teachers who have master degree's in biomechanics, that second one undid everything I thought I knew and I'm so glad. I prefer folks not comment, unless they read the whole article (and it's not short). The answer to the the title question is both yes and no. Paradoxical, yes/and which generally tends to point you in the direction of something being a true yoga teaching.

What comes to mind when you see the words “yoga alignment,” I.e., arranging your body in specific ways (or instructing others to arrange their bodies in

In case you missed today's party: The pre asana class reading

Because of you:

Because of you, here we are. All of you. Whether you joined in 2015 or 2025 or somewhere in between, your presence matters.

Thank you for giving me these gifts:

-A purpose. I get to wake up everyday with the aspiration that what I do matters, that someone might feel a little bit better for having come to class.

-Right livelihood. A means to earn a living that aligns with my values.

-New Challenges. Continual opportunities to be a better teacher. Your wonky back/hip/knee and shoulder stuff, keep me creative in offering many variations of poses.

-Self care. Sometimes what I'm saying, doing, or teaching, is exactly what I need. But I wouldn't make time for it, unless I was offering it to someone else.

I am here because you are here. Because you decided to keep showing up, even when you were tired, annoyed, sad, confused, lost and disillusioned.

I've watched studio's close. They fell around us like dominos in 2020, but not us, we're still here. Because of you.

Sometimes your heart said yes, when you body said no, or your body said yes when your heart said no. You've made yoga friends and shared encouragement. You Zoomed when I asked, donated when I asked, volunteered when I asked, cooked when I asked, and supported me, even when I didn't ask. I want to acknowledge the people who couldn't' be here today, but are here in spirit, and those who have passed on.

The cumulative energy of over 1000 people who have walked through our doors. Some pass through, some come and go, some stay. Imagine the ripple effects of those practices into the lives they touch, All because of you.

I may be in the position of paying the rent and making the schedule, but we're all in it together. All of us teachers, all of us students. I learn so much from you!

Another day, another down dog, again and again and again.

Changing, shifting, growing, shrinking, rising, falling, laughing, crying, standing, laying, sitting kneeling in it all together.

All because of you, holding space, showing up for you, also serves others.

Thank you for your practice.🙏

And a good time was had by all♡

Our Story

Yoga Younion is the St Helens community's own dedicated local Yoga studio. Our Schedule includes something for everyone. Whether you are brand new to Yoga or a long time practitioner we welcome you. Owner and instructor April Helton is a Yoga Alliance certified instructor holding her 200hr RYT and is pursuing her 500hr as well. April teaches with an emphasis on safety while building flexibility, balance, strength, self confidence and inner peace. We believe that there is an element of Yoga that will resonate with everyone and are here to support you whether you come to your mat for physical, mental or spiritual benefits. Deciding to pursue a Yoga practice is deeply satisfying on many levels. Unifying the mind body connection, students feel stronger and more at ease within their own bodies. Yoga facilities an inner stillness assisting us in managing life's changing circumstances. By reducing stress and anxiety we are better able to make healthy choices, regulate our emotional response and connect with our best self.
