Ready:
Seatbelt adoption driven by public advocacy and education
Community-led anti-smoking movements reduced to***co use
High childhood vaccination rates were built on trust between families and providers

Set:
Smoke-free workplace and public space laws
Safe driving campaigns and injury prevention programs
Community-based health education efforts

Action:

Government agencies and public health professionals must row in the same direction. Coordination is the backbone of clean water, safe food, disease prevention and emergency response. Good health doesn’t just happen — it’s built on a foundation of safety and sanitary laws enacted by governments to keep us all healthy.

Ready:
Eradication of polio through coordinated federal, state and local vaccine distribution campaigns

Set:
Evidence-based immunization schedules adopted nationwide
Public health surveillance systems that detect outbreaks early (e.g., flu, COVID-19, foodborne illness)

Action:
Support policies that prioritize equitable distribution of public health resources
Strengthen partnerships between federal and state authorities, public health departments, schools, health care systems, Tribal Nations and local leaders
Improve emergency preparedness through shared data systems, workforce investment and readiness training

This is a great opportunity to learn more, ask questions, and connect with local child care providers who need substitute help.

We’re hosting two Substitute Day Care Professional Events in Stafford County for anyone interested in becoming a substitute, as well as for current day care providers looking to meet potential substitutes.

Felicia Flyer, Regional Licensing Specialist, will be there to answer questions and share information about licensing requirements.

Coming up in June, there are Dream Camps for children of addicted families, ages 7-11. Transportation is available to and from camp, and registration is free.

DREAM, Inc. Educational camps focus on children who have chemically addicted family members. It is estimated that one in every four children are living in a chemically addicted family.
