Anxiety has a way of making the future feel more real than the present.

You're not actually in danger, but your body doesn't know that. The tight chest, the racing thoughts, the constant low-level dread β€” it's exhausting to live in that state, especially when you can't always explain it to the people around you.

A lot of what we work on in therapy is helping your nervous system learn that it's okay to settle. Not through suppressing what you feel, but by understanding it well enough that it stops running the show.

If anxiety has been getting in the way of your relationships, your sleep, or just enjoying your day-to-day life β€” that's worth addressing. You don't have to be in crisis to reach out.

I work with adults and teens in person in St. Johnsbury and online anywhere in Vermont.

There's a reason a long hike clears your head. Or why you feel so good after a swim in a lake on a hot day. It's not just the exercise β€” it's that you're back in an environment your nervous system actually recognizes.

That's the foundation of the wilderness intensives I offer here in the Northeast Kingdom. We use the natural environment not as a backdrop, but as part of the therapeutic work itself. Being outside together, moving, eating a real meal, slowing down β€” it creates conditions for the kind of honest conversation and self-reflection that's hard to access in everyday life.

These weekends are open to individuals, couples, teens and families. If you're curious what that could look like, reach out and we can talk through it.

Something I've noticed over the years: a lot of men come to therapy not because someone told them to, but because they got tired of carrying everything alone.

It doesn't always look like sadness or anxiety. Sometimes it's irritability, or checking out, or just feeling like you're going through the motions. Sometimes it's relationship tension that keeps showing up in the same ways. Sometimes it's not being able to explain why things feel heavy β€” they just do.

I work with a lot of men, and I run a men's group here in the Northeast Kingdom for that reason. There's something useful about being in a room with other guys who get it.

If you've been on the fence about reaching out, that's normal. Feel free to start with a phone call. We'll go from there.

Most people don't come to therapy with a diagnosis. They come in because something just feels off.

Maybe anxiety has been making it hard to sleep or stay present. Maybe you've been going through the motions and can't quite name why. Stress at work, tension at home, a relationship that feels stuck β€” or just a general lack of drive that you can't shake.
That's most of what I see in my practice. Not dramatic crises, just people who are tired of feeling the way they've been feeling and are ready to try something different.

If any of that sounds familiar, I'd encourage you to reach out. We'll start by just talking about what's going on. No pressure, no rigid process β€” just an honest conversation about where you are and whether working together makes sense.

I work with adults, teens, couples and families β€” in person in St. Johnsbury or online anywhere in Vermont.

One thing I hear a lot is that people aren't sure how therapy actually works logistically β€” especially if they're busy, live in a rural area, or just aren't ready to sit across from someone in an office yet.

I offer in-person sessions at my office in St. Johnsbury, and I also work with people over Zoom, by phone, or by text. All are real options β€” not afterthoughts. Whatever format lets you show up and do the work, that's the one we'll use.

If you're in the Northeast Kingdom or anywhere in Vermont and have been thinking about reaching out, feel free to get in touch. We can figure out the rest from there.

We must develop some compassion for ourselves, and then the open way just begins.

One might set records in terms of numbers and quantities - that we have built the greatest, the biggest, we have collected the most, the longest, the most gigantic.

But who is going to remember the record when you are dead? Or in 100 years? Or in 10 years? Or in 10 minutes? The records that count are those of the given moment, of now - whether or not communication and openness are actually taking place now. This is the open way, the bodhisattva path.
