🚧 **Temporary Office Closure Update** 🚧

Due to an unexpected plumbing emergency, our Main Street office location will be closed through mid next week while repairs and cleanup are completed.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone working hard—especially with the holiday weekend approaching—to restore the space safely and efficiently. Your efforts are much appreciated.

To our patients, we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to reschedule appointments and transition to telehealth visits during this time. Your flexibility means so much to us, and we’re grateful for your continued trust in our care.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please call our office or send us a message through the Spruce app.

Thank you again for your support—we look forward to seeing you!

Introducing our newest Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner — Kara Heath!

Many of you may already recognize Kara from her time here at Sage Mental Health during her practicum, or from her work with us in her role as a registered nurse. We are excited to share that she is now board certified and licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, and officially joining our team in this new role.
Kara brings over 16 years of nursing experience, with much of her background in emergency room and corrections nursing. Her approach to care closely aligns with the values of our practice — that effective psychiatric treatment is built on collaboration, patient autonomy, and a thoughtful blend of traditional and complementary approaches.

We are thrilled to have her continue her journey with Sage Mental Health.

Welcome, Kara!

❄️ PROTECT YOUR PIPES IN THE COLD... ❄️ 🥶

With temperatures dropping to -20 below or colder and highs only around 10 below, this is the kind of cold that can cause real problems, especially if you live in a mobile home or an older house that isn’t well insulated.

Here are a few quick tips to help prevent frozen pipes:

✅ Let faucets drip (a slow drip helps keep water moving)

✅ Open cabinet doors under sinks so warm air can reach the pipes

✅ Don’t lower your thermostat overnight — when the house cools down, cold air can find the drafty spots and weak points, and that’s when pipes in exterior walls or crawlspaces can freeze fast

✅ If your sink is on an exterior wall: open cabinets + let it drip

✅ Close the garage door to protect plumbing in cold spots

✅ Know the location of your main water shutoff valve (just in case there’s an emergency)

If you notice low water flow or frost on pipes, don’t wait, take action early and give us a call before it turns into a bigger mess.

Stay warm and stay safe. 💚

IMPORTANT COLD WEATHER SHELTER UPDATE:

Due to a historically severe cold weather event, the Agency of Human Services (AHS) has implemented a temporary, life-saving emergency overflow response to ensure that no one is left outside in life-threatening conditions.

** You do not need to be eligible for the General Assistance
hotel/motel program to receive help during this weekend.
** This is a special emergency cold weather overflow program, to keep people safe during the expected extreme dangerous temperatures.
** These rooms are only for the duration of the cold weather event.

Who to Call:
- After 4:30pm: call 211
- Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 4:30pm: call Economic Services Division (ESD) at 1-800-775-0506.

ESD and 211 will help determine next steps for emergency cold weather housing assistance when shelter options are unavailable.

Stay safe everyone.

Medicare Open Enrollment is Here! (October 15 – December 7)

It’s that time of year again — Medicare Open Enrollment! This is your opportunity to review your current plan, explore new options, and make sure your coverage fits your mental health and medication needs for the year ahead.

💡 What to Look For:

Check if your current providers (like Sage Mental Health) are still in-network.

Review your prescription coverage — medication tiers and copays can change yearly.

Compare telehealth benefits and mental health coverage, as not all plans offer the same access.

🗂️ How to Prepare:

Make a list of your current medications and providers.

Review your current plan’s coverage notice (ANOC).

Use Medicare.gov to compare plans or check with your local agencies (such as the Agency on Aging) for clinics to assist. If you cannot get into a clinic or need help finding the right plan for your needs, please call the office. We will do our best to help guide you!

🔁 Even if you’re happy with your plan, take a few minutes to double-check — small changes can make a big difference in your care and costs.

If you have questions about how your plan may affect your care at Sage Mental Health, feel free to reach out. We’re here to help you make a smooth transition.

Our new home seems more official with our new signage thanks to Sign Depot in Lyndonville.

We are ready for in person (by appointment) visits for next week!

A reminder to allow yourself time to find parking on Main Street as we do not have regular patient parking at the building (only Handicap parking).

Happy Birthday Sage Mental Health PLC!

Sage Mental Health was registered as a business with the state of VT as of 1/8/24 but I am choosing to honor our true anniversary date as a business from the day we began seeing patients which was one year ago, March 5, 2024.

It has been an absolute pleasure serving our community and I never dreamed the business to bloom as quickly as it did. We have treated patients over 3 New England states and 61 towns of Vermont, totaling over 1200 visits in the past year and projections are showing that this number of visits will likely triple this year. We are now in network with over a dozen insurances.

I couldn't have done any of this without the support of family, friends and our amazing community partners who refer to us and work collaboratively towards a common goal of providing thorough and compassionate care. In June, we welcomed Breck Baker to the practice, thus furthering our ability to meet the needs of our community.

And most importantly, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our incredible patients. Your courage to seek out help and your commitment to healing inspires us every day. Over the past year, we've witnessed remarkable stories of resilience, growth, and transformation within our community. It's a true privilege to be a part of your journey towards mental well-being.

If you've had a positive experience with us, we would greatly appreciate you taking a moment to share your thoughts in a review. Your feedback helps others find the support they need!

Thank you all immensely.

A note from Crystal to her Sage patients:

Dear all,
I want to sincerely apologize for the cancellations over the past two days. I had to step away unexpectedly to handle a family emergency.

I truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. As I work through these personal matters, I will be addressing refill requests and other inquiries as I am able over the next few days. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as I take this time to be with my family. I anticipate being back in the office next week.

I am grateful for each of you. Please know that I am committed to your care and will do my best to address your needs as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your support and understanding. I appreciate you all.

Warm Regards,
Crystal
