Articulation therapy isn’t just repeating sounds.
It’s teaching children how to hear, see, and feel the sound they’re learning.
In articulation therapy, we work on:
💜Understanding what the correct sound should sound like
💜 Learning where the articulators go (tongue, teeth, lips, and airflow)
💜 Practicing how to produce the sound correctly in isolation
From there, we build skills step-by-step:
1. Sounds in isolation
2. Sounds in syllables
3. Sounds in words
4. Sounds in phrases
5. Sounds in sentences
6. Sounds in conversation
We also focus on:
💜 Auditory discrimination – helping children hear the difference between correct and incorrect sounds
💜 Motor planning – teaching the mouth how to move in the right way
💜 Carryover – using the sound correctly in everyday speech, not just in therapy
The goal isn’t just to say the sound correctly in a drill — it’s to help children confidently use their sounds in real conversations at home, at school, and with friends.
Speech therapy is about building awareness, skills, and confidence so children can communicate clearly and effectively.
