Society says men need to be the providers. This stereotypically looks like a fulltime job where you are overworked and underpaid, perhaps sacrificing what is most important, God and your family. This model, like much of previous medicinal treatments, is archaic. It is antiquated, outdated, no longer sustainable. This is not accounting for the plethora of women in the workforce or single parent households.
The average life expectancy in the US as of 2021 is 74 for males and 79 for females. This is IF all the "puzzle" pieces come together accordingly. The leading cause of death, heart disease and cancer a close 2nd. This means that if one starts to work around an average age of 15 and HOPEFULLY retire at 65, 50 years is spent working tirelessly so you can hopefully have 9-14 years to enjoy before you die. Yet, there are many who are in their late 60s to mid 70's still in the workforce for one of many reasons.
Lack of sleep, lack of rest, lack of proper nutrition, etc. all cuts the lifespan down even more. For what? so you can go to your grave stressed out? So everyone can speak about how hard you worked yet out of nearly 5 decades of working you didn't even get to enjoy 1-single decade of the fruits of your labor? We are living in an era where other things matter more. I have seen so many go to their graves in their 60s and the family says "oh they were so healthy. They took good care of us, etc." yet they didn't even make it to retirement. It is just not worth it.
Rather than live above your means because you think you need a bigger house, a better cell phone, a better car, etc. Why not just live in accordance to what you need rather than what you want? We have become such a materialistic society that we need to look "good" even if it kills us. Stop it! Your life is worth more than that. You belong, you matter, you are amazing! You do NOT need to show off, be better than, or compensate for anything. I perhaps have or have not actually met you, but in passing, if you have said good morning or good afternoon to me, that meant the world to me. I appreciate you. Please, save your money and LIVE your life for those that matter and the moments that matter. You can't take your money to the grave, but you can surely bless someone else with it or an organization, etc. You will have lived a great life and in return your legacy will help others as well, perhaps your own family.
