Welcome, Dr. Donaldson!

Dr. Donaldson is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Following medical school at the University of Kansas, he completed residency in general pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric sports medicine at Children’s Mercy Kansas City.

As a pediatrician, Dr. Donaldson provides the full spectrum of care for pediatric patients, providing well checks, preventative care, sick visits, and managing chronic conditions like asthma and ADHD. As a Mosaic pediatrician, he will care for your child in the nursery and in the hospital if they need to be admitted. As a sports medicine doctor, Dr. Donaldson treats injuries, broken bones, and chronic pain related to participating in sports. He performs arthrocentesis and injections as needed.

On August 8, 2025, I did a first in my life. I delivered memory bears that had been crafted by hospice volunteers made from Mrs. Holmes' clothing. I had never met Mr. Holmes or his wife, Nancy, but I know what the family was experiencing and happy to offer bereavement support.

During Caregiver Week last week, we also celebrated annual service awards. These awards honor caregivers who have shown dedication and loyalty to Mosaic. Service awards are given in five-year increments, beginning at five years of service.

Those celebrating service awards were recognized at a gathering with their leaders during caregiver week. Thank you to all of our caregivers for your many years of service to our patients and each other!

Guest speakers from Mayo Clinic joined us this week for Addressing Su***de and Trauma. Local mental health professionals gathered to learn strategies to better understand and help, not only those who may be having suicidal thoughts, but also those who are affected by the loss of someone who has committed su***de.

This interactive session included opportunities to practice specific strategies during small group discussions. Participants also received Continuing Education Units from the MoWest Social Work Department.

The Community Blood Center (CBC) has declared a blood emergency as the region’s blood supply has dropped to less than a two-day inventory, far below the ideal seven-day supply needed to meet hospital and patient needs. While all blood types are urgently needed, the shortage is especially severe for types O-negative and O-positive, which are vital for emergency situations and trauma care.

ENT has THREE nurses who have been nominated for Nurse Excellence Awards this year. These annual awards are presented to nurses who have demonstrated compassionate, connected care and excellence through their professional career at Mosaic Life Care. Congratulations Erikka, Mikeala, and Lisa!

Nurse of the Year recognizes a nurse who has gone above and beyond what is expected of them in their day-to-day role. Any nurse who exhibits compassion, strong leadership and is a role model to other nurses and a strong advocate for his or her patients is eligible for the Nurse of the Year Award.

Rising Star of the Year recognizes a nurse who is seen as a natural leader, who constantly works to improve the quality of their own practice and of the services they work in. This nurse has the capacity to develop essential nursing skills quickly, the creativity to innovate and reshape services and the ability to engage and motivate those around them. Any nurse who has been with Mosaic for two years or less is eligible for the Rising Star of the Year Award.
