Supported by a Foundation department grant, our incredible occupational therapist Angel Page attended the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Conference in Philadelphia - a transformative experience already making a difference in the lives of our rehabilitation patients.

Over four days, Angel participated in nine educational sessions, earning 19 continuing education units and gaining cutting-edge knowledge in areas like:

🧠 Long COVID & occupational performance
🏠 OT’s role in home care for dependent patients
🧍‍♀️ High-intensity training in neuro rehab
🧓 Dementia, behaviors & fall prevention
💇‍♀️ Culturally inclusive hair care in OT

Angel also explored hundreds of innovative tools and devices that could enhance our services and improve patient outcomes.

“Learning the most up-to-date information and research-based treatment methods was incredibly inspiring. It pushed me to do what is best for our patients,” said Angel.

“Even if it seems scary at first, just do it. It will help you the rest of your life,” said 12-year-old Mikella Theriault.

After being diagnosed with scoliosis, Mikella began Schroth Therapy at Corewell Health, a specialized treatment that helps slow spinal curvature and improve posture, breathing and confidence. With the help of her therapist, Makenna Hartline, Mikella reduced spinal rotation, gained two inches in height and learned what it means to take charge of her well-being.

What made this care possible? Our Foundation, which funded Makenna’s advanced Schroth Therapy training, ensures expert care is available close to home for youth in our community.

“This therapy gave us a second chance,” said her mom, Terri. “We’re so grateful to the team at Corewell Health for helping Mikella stand taller, inside and out.”

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us for the South Haven Hospice Benefit - your presence and generosity made this event truly special. With over 200 guests in attendance, we were overwhelmed by the love and support shown for our mission.

Thanks to your kindness, 50 days of hospice care have been donated to hospice patients in the South Haven community. That’s 50 days of comfort, compassion and dignity for patients and their families - a gift that means more than words can express.

We were all "living our best lives" at the event last Saturday thanks to the support of our lead sponsor Teresa Getman!
