Today, YWCA Staff visited Boudreaux's Louisiana Seafood & Steaks for our April edition of LUNCH ON A MISSION!

Boudreaux's operates under the ownership of Dee Marriott and brings the bold flavors of Louisiana to Downtown St. Joseph with a menu rooted in authentic Cajun cuisine. Known for its seafood, steaks, and signature dishes like jambalaya, gumbo, and fried alligator, the restaurant offers a unique dining experience with Bourbon Street vibes. We also got to check out our Sexual Assault Awareness Month display, which Boudreaux's is so kindly hosting!

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and we are kicking things off by getting out into our community.

We are so excited to partner with Boudreaux’s Downtown to start important conversations, raise awareness, and remind people that support is always here.

This month is about more than awareness. It is about standing with survivors, listening without judgment, and creating a community where no one has to carry their story alone.

Come join us on Thursday, 04/02/26 at 6 PM for Unmasking the Silence. This evening is about creating space, lifting voices, and showing survivors they are seen, heard, and supported.

If you see us out and about, come say hi. Wear teal. Share the message. Be part of the change.

Together, we act. Together, we learn. Together, we support.

We have had a busy couple of days out in the community.
Yesterday, we joined the Altec Women’s Health Fair, and today we had the honor of attending the Veterans Event at Missouri Western State University.
From women taking time to focus on their health to veterans who have given so much, it was a powerful reminder of why showing up matters.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit with us. We are so grateful to be part of this community

Sometimes at the YWCA St. Joseph, we handle serious things, and sometimes we test how many staff members can fit in a giant box.

Today’s entertainment: one brave employee who decided the box looked just big enough to climb into. Naturally, the rest of us fully supported this very important experiment.

Results are still being studied… but we can confirm two things:
1️. The box was bigger than expected
2. Our staff might need more supervision

All jokes aside, it’s moments like this that remind us how lucky we are to work with such an amazing team. We do important work every day, but a little laughter along the way keeps us going.

The YWCA is grateful to be a grant recipient from Second Harvest Community Food Bank. This support helps us keep food on the table for the women and children staying in our shelter.

Many families come to the YWCA starting over with very little. Having access to healthy food brings comfort, stability, and one less thing to worry about, allowing them to focus on healing and rebuilding their lives.

We were proud to have our amazing cook, Jenn Percell, and Rosalie Yates, an intern from Missouri Western State University, accept this on behalf of the YWCA.

Thank you to Second Harvest for supporting our mission and helping ensure no one in our community faces hunger alone.

Hello YWCA Community!

We’re starting to plan our Children’s Program Summer Camp, and this year we thought it would be fun to invite our community to help choose the theme. Camp week is always such a special time for the kids in our programs — full of creativity, laughter, learning, and a chance to be kids.

Now we need your ideas! Drop your fun, creative, and imaginative camp theme suggestions in the comments below. Over the next few weeks, we’ll gather all the ideas, narrow them down to the top 3–5 themes, and then let everyone vote in a final poll to decide the winning theme for the 2026 Summer Camp.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with, and we’re excited to bring the community into this special week for our kids.

Ready… set… brainstorm!
Drop your theme ideas in the comments!

We are SO proud of our Parkway Elementary StuCo and our amazing Parkway Panthers!

These students worked together to put birthday kits together with their own hands and donated them to organizations all across our community. Because of them, more kids and families will get to celebrate their birthdays in a special way.

Each kit includes everything needed to make a birthday sweet — and they even added instructions for making a cake with a can of Sprite! (That’s some smart thinking!)

What makes this even more special is how they did it. They showed respect. They worked hard. They accepted responsibility. They practiced safety. They truly lived out what it means to be Parkway Panthers.

This wasn’t just a school project — it was kindness in action. Big hearts. Big teamwork. Big impact.

Parkway Panthers, you made birthdays brighter, and we couldn’t be prouder of you.
