Congratulations to our recent Sunflower Award recipient, Courtney Moore, patient care associate, from 3 North Overflow at Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph, Medical Center. 🌼

A portion of Courtney’s nomination reads:

"We need more Courtneys! Courtney was working as a patient care sitter for a patient with suicidal ideation. This particular patient was not only extremely depressed and upset about her health but was also very nauseated and did not feel well. Courtney advocated for her patient's best interest, despite the nurse's lack of acknowledgment of the patient's severe nausea and the inability to lie flat for an MRI. Courtney also used non-pharmacologic interventions to comfort and support the patient through the nausea and continued to advocate for her throughout the shift, including a discussion with the physician about the patient's concerns, needs, and best interests. The sitter order was later discontinued, but before leaving the patient's room, Courtney had a therapeutic conversation with the patient, discussing her mental health struggles and listening to the patient's concerns and worries. The patient was highly thankful for the time and effort Courtney had put in and felt supported in her struggles."

On Saturday, December 13, more than 300 Mosaic caregivers and their families attended our third annual Cocoa with the Clauses. Kids and adults were able to enjoy hot cocoa from our Nutrition and Dining Services team, Christmas cookies from Country Cookie coloring activities, crafts, a Christmas movie and, of course, getting to tell Santa and Mrs. Claus what they’re hoping to get for Christmas.

Our Maryville and Albany area locations will be operating under normal hours.

We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to our caregivers who have been working throughout this winter storm.
