Dr. Nellestein graduated from the University of Utah with an undergraduate degree in molecular biology and went on to receive a medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Nellestein completed his cardiothoracic surgery training from Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Nellestein enjoyed a distinguished 25-year military career and is a retired Navy captain. He underwent airborne paratrooper and jungle warfare training with the 82nd Airborne Division. His military career included seven years overseas, nine years in Washington D.C., two years in Kansas City, and seven years in the reserves. For the past six years, Dr. Nellestein has focused his skills and passion for medicine on venous disease management. Before that, he worked at Heartland Regional Medical Center/Mosaic Life Care for sixteen years, where he held various positions, including the medical director of cardiothoracic surgery and medical director of vascular surgery. He started the Mosaic Vein Clinic in 2012. Dr. Nellestein and his wife of 35 years are proud parents to their two successful adult children; Emily and Andrew.
