Many athletes ask this after a session:

“Should I work out after a massage?”

The answer most people don’t expect…

Not always.

If we did deeper therapeutic work, your muscles and nervous system just went through something meaningful. Jumping straight into a hard workout can actually reduce the benefit.

Think of massage as part of your training cycle, not just something extra.

A simple approach that works well:
Massage day → recovery movement
Next day → return to training
Then build intensity

Walking, mobility work, and hydration go a long way after a session.

This is especially important for the women I work with who are:
Active
Strength training
Managing stress or nervous system overload
Wanting their body to actually change—not just push harder

Your body integrates change in recovery.

That’s where progress happens.

In this industry, most gift certificate holders do not turn into regular clients. (It was a gift, maybe they dont see the value in regular bodywork) Today, one such person received work from me. They had told me they usually get a massage every two weeks to alleviate pain caused by their profession. They left feeling the outcome of specific work and booked sessions twice a month with me. Outcomes matter. See a therapist who addresses your concerns and delivers results. Bodywork for Women.

Hi, I’m Cherie Wade LMT👋
I specialize in advanced integrated massage and manual therapy for women who carry a lot—physically, emotionally, and mentally. I work with women who are tired of “just dealing with” pain, chronic tension, and stress. Whether you are an athlete integrating muscle tissue recovery or just want to move through life doing all the things you want to do pain free- I am here!

My approach blends educated, intuitive brain-bodywork with a deep respect for the nervous system, because lasting change happens when the body feels safe, supported, and understood. This is thoughtful, skilled care designed to help you release, restore, and feel more at home in your body.

So how did I get here?

I’ve been an LMT working for myself and others for almost 11 years. However, I didnt become a therapist until I was 40! Yup- second career here!
I was communications and sales for a Fortune 50 company before heading out West where I worked in the largest non profit mental and behavioral health organization in the state of Arizona. My Mother passed away and it was off to the coast of North Carolina where my next position was Mother to my daughter and worked for the Department of Defense in the Family and behavioral health programs for the US Marine Corps. By the time I entered my massage program in South Carolina in 2014, I was a Marine Corps Spouse and had another baby.
What made me choose to be an LMT?
I knew I did not want to return to an office. My Mother’s passing and my own knee surgery were still fresh - I wanted to help people.
I quickly discovered myoskeletal alignment and brain based therapy and it changed the way I viewed pain in the body. I also began Physical Therapy Assistant school and added more Anatomy and Physiology college credits to my educational basket of knowledge. By 2019, I also became a Certified Personal Trainer. My gross anatomy experience truly aided me! At the end of the summer I relocated myself, my dog and my children back to my home state of Michigan, escaping an abusive marriage. It was difficult starting over, but it was impossible to stay where I was. I became passionate about being a Domestic Violence Advocate.

With the help of my friends and connections of home, I built my practice in St Joseph MI. I added medical massage to my skills. Then I would later meet another SWMI native returning home from living in North Carolina, and we are now married and building our life together! ♥️

I have expanded my private practice into my own building in 2025, renovating the space into an earthy warm wellness center. I am so grateful.

It is my hope that I can share my knowledge, skill set and wisdom in your own journey of wellbeing. I’m holding space for you!
