Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, is a vision condition where objects up close appear clearly, but distant objects are blurry. It occurs when the eyeball is slightly longer than normal or when the cornea (the clear front cover of the eye) is too curved. This causes light rays to focus in front of the retina instead of directly on it, resulting in blurred vision for distant objects. Myopia is typically corrected with glasses or contact lenses, and in some cases, it can be managed or slowed down through various treatments and lifestyle adjustments recommended by eye care professionals.
