UPDATE :

Thank you to everyone who reached out, shared the post, and offered to help. We were able to secure a bariatric wheelchair for Wednesday so this grandfather can attend his grandchild’s graduation.

As always, our communities continue to step up and help neighbors in need.

Your kindness and willingness to help others never goes unnoticed.

Does anyone have a bariatric wheelchair that a family could borrow for Wednesday?

A grandfather in the Forest Hills community would like to attend his grandchild’s graduation and is in need of some help getting in there comfortably.

Thank you to Forest Hills School District for having us on one of the funnest days of the year!!
Your ambulance service was able to provide 2 ALS crews (assigned to Portage and Main station) specifically for emergency calls.
All while a 3rd crew was assigned to help with the carnival!!

On Friday, our ambulance crew had the opportunity to participate in the “Prom Promise” programs at both the Portage and Forest Hills School Districts. These events are designed to remind students of the importance of making safe and responsible decisions, especially during prom season.

Our team was proud to support this effort by sharing real-world perspectives on emergency response and the consequences that can result from impaired or distracted driving. We appreciate the invitation from both districts and are always committed to helping keep our communities safe—both on and off the road.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our partners who helped make these programs possible: Portage Fire Department, Summerhill Township Fire Department, Adams Township Fire Department #1 and #2, South Fork Fire Department, Cambria County Coroner’s Office, Cambria County District Attorney’s Office, Adams Township Police Department, Summerhill Township Police Department, and both participating school districts.

Capping off Earth Week 2026, students from Portage Area High School worked to complete their annual clean up around Portage. Forest Hills Area EMS was proud to provide a crew for EMS standby coverage for this cleanup detail as a large group of these students worked to clean
up the Crichton McCormick Park. This included a cleanup and building of small dams in the trout stream, Kane Run, which is maintained by Traditional Anglers of Pennsylvania, Portage, and made available to provide opportunities for our youth to get out and enjoy fishing and the outdoors. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to our community helping to make it more beautiful and enjoyable for all of us!
