Update!

Daniel did have his Sedated MRI this past Friday and we got this message from his neurologist:

"Daniel's MRI was reassuring. We again saw those old areas of injury related to his infection when he was a baby. They are more on the right than left, which again is a bit confusing about why his right leg is tighter and weaker, but sometimes this happens. There was nothing new in his brain or spine that would explain the toe walking. Please contact my office with any questions."

I am going to contact them to make sure we can go ahead with the Serial Casting or see if there might be another route we want to take to try and help Daniel regarding his toe walking.

Other than this, not much else going on.

Daniel's P*P contacted us recently asking if we'd be open to talking to a reporter from NBC about Daniel's story/journey since contracting Whooping Cough/Pertussis. We were connected with the Public Relations Specialist from Children's and just this morning we did a video call with the reporter from NBC. I have to say I'm not sure if this something that will be a national story and just a local story, but I will try my best to update and share.

What can I say about Daniel except he is doing remarkably well! Just got over a small tummy bug. His first month of 1st grade went good. Had at least one day of some "hands on" activity towards friends and using inappropriate language, but mostly going good so far.

Recently we started focusing on the fact Daniel does a lot of toe walking when he's not wearing his AFO braces. His therapy office mentioned we could try "Serial Casting" but also wanted us to connect back with neurology first, so we have got back into his neurology clinic and we attempted an MRI last week, but it was too much for Daniel, so we're going back next week for a sedated MRI. This decision is because she told us from his last MRI in 2021, most of the damage was on the right side of his brain which would affect/control the left side of his body, but we can clearly tell the right side of his body, especially his leg/foot/ankle is tighter than the left. I am worried about what the MRI will bring out.

Otherwise, Daniel is doing great!

First Day of Kindergarten!! Daniel's bus showed up early so I couldn't get him with his frame, but we'll get it later. HAPPY FIRST DAY TO ALL STUDENTS!!

hello friends & family!!

wanted to throw out a quick update about daniel. i know we don't post very much, but it's because daniel is doing very well.

this past thursday, daniel had an eeg done at his neurology clinic and his doctor said it looks so good, we're going to wean him off his seizure medication and see how he does. we will have rescue meds on hand just in case, but we are starting the wean this next week.

other than that, daniel is set to start kindergarten in a week and half. we're emotional all around for him.
