Our message to our Hayes Residence Staff, established by AHCA in 1967, National Nursing Care Week starts each year on Mother's Day and encourages skilled nursing care centers around the country to shine a light on the individuals who reside, work, and volunteer in nursing.
This is a time when we participate in that celebration as a facility. National Skilled Nursing Care Week (ahcancal.org)
*This week will consist of provided snacks in the breakroom, impromptu activities, fun facts, music, and timeless TV shows playing at various times.
Participation from everyone during your work shift will make this a memorable week at Hayes. Share in the Spirit, Share in the FUN, and take our residents back in time as they remember their favorite music, TV shows, & golden era of their days. To celebrate with our fellow nursing homes, the theme this year is “Radiant Memories – A Tribute to the Golden Age of Radio.”
Radiant Memories invites us to step back into a time when the airwaves were filled with captivating stories and melodies, celebrating not just nostalgia but also the enduring legacy of nursing care centers, staff, and residents.
During the Golden Age of Radio, which spanned from the 1920s to the 1950s, radio was the primary source of news, music, drama, comedy, and other entertainment for millions worldwide. Families would gather around the radio to tune into beloved shows like "The War of the Worlds," "The Lone Ranger," "The Shadow," and "The Green Hornet," creating cherished memories together.
During The Golden Age of Radio Era, the rise of various programming genres, including soap operas, detective dramas, variety shows, comedy programs, and musical performances. Radio also played a significant role during World War II, providing essential news updates, entertainment, and morale-boosting programming for both civilians and troops.
The Golden Age of Radio holds a special place in American culture, with broadcasts ranging from presidential fireside chats to old-time radio dramas and chart-topping hits. This theme recognizes the cherished moments shared through music and stories over the radio waves, reflecting on the profound impact radio has had on our lives.
