Minnetonka audiologist Rebecca Younk discusses hearing loss and dementia

From the article: Researchers discovered that participants with hearing loss with hearing aids had a 61% lower risk of developing incident all-cause dementia compared to those with hearing loss without hearing aids.

Younk explains that there isn’t one single reason for the correlation between hearing loss and dementia, but rather a combination of factors that researchers have discovered. One of the factors she mentions is social isolation due to hearing loss.

Join our community food drive!

As part of this season of giving, we are hosting a food drive in all our clinic locations. We have a collection bin in lobby where the community can drop off nonperishable food items. Associated Hearing Care will donate $1 for each food item collected, along with a cash donation to the food shelf at Keystone Community Services.

The amazing Dr. Samantha Rossmann was featured this week in the Pioneer Press about balance issues which can result in devastating falls, especially for older Americans. We couldn’t be more proud to have her on the team and help our patients find the right resources for their balance issues.

Dr. Rebecca Younk said balance screenings now constitute about 10% of her company’s business, up from zero, and investments in new technology at her St. Paul hub have come in handy.

From the article: The strongest predictor of hearing loss is age. It is estimated that 22% of adults 55–64 have hearing loss and that jumps to 55% for those who are over the age of 75.
Given the increased awareness of the negative impacts of hearing loss on brain health and the positive outcomes for people when they wear hearing aids, we are seeing an increasing demand for hearing care services.
