We are an organization bringing awareness to the Movember Foundation and the men's health community.

Hello! My name is Ian Saltmarsh, and I run a non-profit called Travel for a Cure. Travel for a Cure is a third-party supporter of the Movember Foundation*. I've raised awareness for the men's health community for almost ten years! Although I've had great support over the years (raising over $23,000!), I want to do something BIG to celebrate a decade of giving back. My goal this year is to raise over $100,000 by canoeing the Mississippi River and hosting fundraising opportunities along the way! You read that right! On Monday, May 29th, I will start the 2552- mile canoe trip from the headwaters at Lake Itasca to the salt waters of the Gulf of Mexico! This journey has always been a dream of mine, and I can't wait to share it with everyone! I humbly invite you to support us on this trip to help men live longer, happier, healthier lives!

*The Movember Foundation is a leading global non-profit organization committed to changing the face of men's health. Men are encouraged to grow mustaches during Movember (formerly known as November) to spark conversation and raise vital funds for its men's health programs. However, the discussion isn't limited to just one month. Year-round, since 2003, the Movember community has raised over $1.18 billion and funded over 1,250 projects focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's mental health and suicide prevention.

Day 67 (Part 3- Day 30)
Lock & Dam 7 (La Crescent, MN) ➑️ Lock & Dam 8 (Genoa, WI)
22 miles today, 2332 miles total!πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

That's a wrap! Salty's Mississippi Movemenet has officially come to an end as Ian's brother, Adam, helped him paddle the last 22 miles!
It was a beautiful fall day on the water. Sunny skies with a slight breeze.
Today was symbolic in sooo many ways!
If you remember, Ian and Rick ended Part 1 of the journey in La Crescent, MN, just after Lock & Dam No. 7. Then, Ian and Adam started Part 2 in Genoa, WI, just after Lock and Dam No. 8.
Today, Ian and Adam finished the leg between the 2 lock systems- tying all 3 parts of the journey together! Kind of crazy that we didn't even plan it out that way, that's just how life happened. We'll say it over and over again, everything happens for a reason!
September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, National Recovery Month, and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
As advocates for the Movember Foundation, it's easy to assume we only talk about men's health issues during the month of November. However, the more we talk about it, the more people we can reach! Help is out there and we want you to know it!
Ian is a military veteran, after serving 9 years in the Army National Guard. He is also a recovering alcoholic, celebrating 9 years alcohol free! (September is the 9th month of the yearπŸ‘€)
He's living proof that you can overcome your demons and help others in the process. Life is hard, but it's even harder when you try to do it by yourself.
The Veteran Administration statistics confirm 22 Veterans a day are succumbing to su***de on American soil.
These last 22 miles of the River are to honor those soldiersπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
988 is an available resource for all those struggling with mental health. Please reach out. You are loved. You are appreciated. You are worthy. You matter. Please stay. πŸ’›
The cherry on top of this journey was finishing it with his little brother. As kids, Ian and Adam used to talk about canoeing the Mississippi River one day. Today, that dream became reality.
Speaking of kids, I wonder what the kids now days will think of us finishing the River in 67 days! IYKYKπŸ˜…

Lock & Dam No. 7 ➑️ Lock & Dam No. 8
One last paddle to finish up the Mighty Mississippi.
Ian saved one last section of the River for a very special reason. 22 miles to represent the 22 veterans who lose their internal battles daily.
