“After 30+ years in many corporate roles, I’m fortunate to be at a point in my life where I can fill my time with a mix of hands-on philanthropy and service on boards. When I met Social Venture Partners Minnesota at a “Taste of” breakfast, I found a way I could do good work, learn things that would make my box bigger, and be part of a new community. I have relationships with partners and nonprofit leaders I never would have without SVP.
For my first project, I was the lead partner on an impact team that worked with The BrandLab. Their work is with youth who come from different backgrounds, many of whom are first generation immigrants. It makes you realize how narrow your own experiences are and how wonderfully diverse the perspectives of young people are in the Twin Cities. Over time I’ve worked on several impact teams. At World Savvy, we worked to design a scalable organization structure. At Breakthrough Twin Cities, it was about diversifying revenue. At RECLAIM, we’ve worked on developing the board. Each one helped nonprofit leaders deepen or expand their organization’s impact, and they all stretched my brain and heart in very different ways.
The relationship building between partners and investees is both the most challenging and rewarding part of the work. Perceived power and trust are both at play. It’s understandable why nonprofit leaders might come to the table very tentatively. Sometimes when people expect you to behave a certain way, they see that in your behaviors, even if it’s not what you’re putting forward. So we need to clear all that stuff out of the way on both sides and make everybody feel comfortable that this is about shared learning. It takes a lot of listening and a lot of questions. The more time we can spend on that, the easier it becomes.
To go through what our world has gone through in the last few years, especially in the Twin Cities, and not feel like I’ve come to understand things in a different way, I’d be disappointed in myself and feel like we all failed, you know? So I appreciate the chance to become a more effective partner to people on the front lines doing such great work. I didn’t have a career as an activist. I didn’t do youth development work. That’s not what I did in my career. I have so much respect for the strengths that other people bring to the table and enjoy putting what I bring to work in new ways. The opportunity to learn from amazing people has changed me.”

✏️🍎Sub Plans Brew Day🍎✏️
We were so happy to have our teacher crew here yesterday to brew this special batch with us, set to be released August 27th. Sub Plans is a super crushable Pale Ale that is mash hopped with Cascade and has some late addition Lotus, Mandarina Bavaria, and Galaxy mixed in. Expect this one to be bursting with passion fruit, dank pink guava, and citrus zest.🤤
This beer is being brewed as a part of our Give A Flyer initiative and we had our teacher crew decide on where they wanted proceeds to go. They settled on two organizations: Project Success and RECLAIM. Both organizations are so wonderful and we encourage you to check them out and read more about the incredible work they’re doing!🙌🏻
Mark the calendars for August 27th and please join us as we tap this super special brew, Sub Plans.🍻

Q***RSPACE collective is excited to announce a new partnership with RECLAIM! As a mental health organization focused on supporting LGBTQ+ youth, RECLAIM will provide ongoing advisory services, resources and mental health best practices to Q***RSPACE collective staff and mentors as mental health challenges arise with the LGBTQ+ youth we serve.
Together, we will continue building networks of support for the LGBTQ+ youth in our communities so they can feel safe and empowered to be their true selves.
Last month, your generosity helped us raise $11,700.89 for RECLAIM, which provides accessible mental health care for q***r and trans youth. Check out this thank-you video from RECLAIM's executive director, Ryan, and please keep up the support this month for BrightSide Produce, our July Positive Change recipient!
As many of us know, June is Pride Month and as the Twin Cities is wrapping up festivities we at Digineer are highlighting an organization we're supporting: RECLAIM!
RECLAIM’s mission is to increase access to mental health care for q***r and trans youth. This organization is one of the region's only resources where q***r and trans youth ages 12-25 can get financially accessible, specialized mental health care. As June is coming to an end, remember that the importance of mental health, especially for LGBTQ+ communities, is something to support all year. One way to help is to donate, either your time or money. Happy Pride!
We're still working to raise $2.5M for local organizations as a community! This Pride month, all round ups and donations at the front desk contribute to RECLAIM. Learn more about the SEED program and how to round up here

Inclusivity is part of our core values at Arts + Rec Uptown. We are so happy to be part of a neighborhood that supports & celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community. If you are looking for something to do this Pride weekend, head over to our neighbors at Bryant Lake Bowl & Theater for their Pride Block Party! Happy Pride everyone!
There are so many local organizations doing great work in our community. If you are looking to support, here's a few we suggest: OutFront Minnesota, Q***rspace collective, RECLAIM and The Aliveness Project.

Let’s talk ways you can cool off this weekend: with our $5 Wine Spritzer, a Pride Cake Batter Shake with proceeds going to RECLAIM, a Cold Brew Float, or our Milky Lavender Vanilla Cold Brew featuring Roots Roasting coffee! We also have our picnic tables out and you can eat your food there - take away or dine-in (though no alcohol is allowed).
A portion of all PRIDE proceeds will go to RECLAIM, an organization that increases access to mental healthcare so q***r and trans youth may reclaim their lives from oppression in all its forms.
Please give a warm welcome to June's Positive Change recipient: RECLAIM! Their mission is to increase access to mental health support so q***r and trans youth may reclaim their lives from oppression in all its forms. RECLAIM provides financially accessible mental health care for 13- to 25-year-olds seeking services focused on identity development related to s*xual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. 🏳️🌈
Nearly two-thirds of the q***r and trans youth RECLAIM serves have financial barriers that prohibit them from accessing care in a traditional clinic. Your donations at the registers this month will support therapists’ salaries to ensure that financial barriers don’t limit youths’ access to vital care. Learn more at
