The impact of recent federal legislative changes is very concerning to us and everyone in the disability field! H.R. Bill 1 was passed and signed into law earlier this month. This legislation will reduce Medicaid funding by $1 trillion and increase administrative requirements for Medicaid beneficiaries.

Consequently, individual states will need to address the resulting shortfall in federal support. In Minnesota, it is likely that a special legislative session will be convened later this year to respond to these developments.

In light of these changes, we are actively planning for the future and will keep you informed as new information becomes available.

Republicans in Congress pushed through the largest Medicaid cuts in history, a move advocates say will inevitably shrink services for people with disabilities across the nation.

Swinging Into Action at Annual Golf Tournament

Despite dodging several rounds of rain throughout the day, the weather didn't dampen our spirits at the annual Russ Douglas Phoenix Golf Classic 2025. The showers were brief, and we were able to enjoy a fantastic day of golf and fun. With your help, we brought in $ 51,622 from the tournament to support our Sustain Our Services campaign.

This year's event featured a round of golf, social hour, program, raffle, virtual silent auction, live auction, Wine Wall, and an exciting new game called the Ball Drop. It was wonderful to see so many new faces at the tournament this year! Your participation and enthusiasm brought fresh energy to the event and helped us expand our community and mission.

A heartfelt shout out goes to our incredible volunteers, including those on the Special Events Committee, and those facilitating the games, taking photos, helping with registration, or setting up the event. Your help is what makes this event run so smoothly! We were honored to welcome KFAN FM 100.3 Dan “The Common Man” Cole to the tournament this year who was out on the course golfing and emceed our evening festivities!

A special thank you to the Joarnt family from Ludden House who shared their inspiring story! Your journey touched the hearts of everyone present and reminded us all of the importance of our mission.

Seeking Nominees for Strategic Alliance Advisory Committee

We are looking for interested parties to serve on a committee to help us plan for the future. With government funding increasingly uncertain and community needs growing, we’re proactively exploring opportunities to strengthen our long-term sustainability and impact.

We are forming a limited-duration Strategic Alliance Advisory Committee to help our boards evaluate strategic alliances, potential mergers, and acquisition opportunities. Specifically, advising on strategic fit, financial implications, operational considerations, and risk.

We welcome nominations of individuals with experience in any of these areas:

Nonprofit or business leadership
Legal experience in mergers & acquisitions or corporate transactions
