Our community is grieving today, as we hold space for the students, families, educators and community members impacted by the recent act of gun violence at Annunciation School in South Minneapolis.

There are no words to describe the pain our community is feeling. We are committed to continue supporting our community as we heal from this trauma together, and advocate for systemic change to prevent similar tragedies from happening again. Senseless violence, especially in our schools, has become far too common. As an LGBTQIA+ affirming community of providers, we also condemn the hateful rhetoric of the media outlets, politicians, and any others who would use this tragedy as an opportunity to attack the trans community.

In the coming days and weeks, we’ll continue to share supportive resources to help folks process this experience in community. If you need support, please reach out. Down to Earth has providers able to support kids and families in healing and processing. We’re in this together 🩵

✨Goodbye, hello, and everything in between! Last week at the Selby house we celebrated our outgoing master’s level therapist interns and welcomed the new crew joining Down to Earth Therapy in September. Laughter, stories, and a little bit of magic filled the evening as one chapter closed and another began. ✨

Hello, we're so glad you're here. If you're new, hi! If you've been around, thank you for sticking around! We're growing, but with new faces, we'd thought we'd reintroduce ourselves.

We are a practice full of diverse clinicians. We like to see ourselves like a tree that is rooted and interconnected to the systems around us. While the world can feel like a heavy drought, we nourish, w**d out the outgrown parts, co-create, and flourish together with our clients.

When one person heals, they nourish the soil for others. Reach out to us to be a part of your healing journey today. 🌱🌳

A slice of celebration at Pizza Lucé on Selby Ave! Our intern therapists at Down to Earth are feeling full in more ways than one—full of pizza, pride, and gratitude. 🍕🥰

We’re celebrating and reflecting on the incredible work they’ve done over the past year: learning, connecting, and growing while offering grounded, compassionate care to those they’ve supported. 🌱🪴🌳

Here’s to new beginnings, lifelong learning, and the relationships that make it all meaningful! ❤️

We hear a lot about self-care—and it matters. But sometimes, what we really need isn’t self care. Sometimes what we need is each other.

Self-care says: Take care of yourself.
Community care says: You don’t have to do it all alone.

You are not a burden for needing support.
Let’s practice offering and receiving care in ways that are relational, not just individual.

Some Ways to Practice Community Care:

* Contributing to or organizing a meal train
* Reaching out to a friend to connect
* Sharing Resources like childcare swaps or clothing exchanges
* Giving money to mutual aid funds or donating to organizations

What’s one way someone has shown up for you lately? Or one small way you can offer care today?

Collaboration with children builds trust and respect. When parents involve kids in making decisions—like setting routines or choosing activities—they feel heard and valued. This teamwork not only reduces conflict but also teaches important life skills like problem-solving and responsibility.

💕 How can you work with your child to set boundaries that feel fair for both of you?

Packing every moment with activities can leave kids stressed and families exhausted. Avoiding over-scheduling gives children the gift of rest, creativity, and unstructured play—key ingredients for healthy brain development and emotional well-being. Slow moments build stronger connections, spark imagination, and let summer feel like summer.

🗓 Does your family’s summer schedule leave space for rest and spontaneity—or does every hour feel booked?

🌞 What would an ideal “slow summer day” look like for your child—and for you?

🎨 When was the last time your child had enough free time to explore their imagination without a plan?

💛 Are your summer plans based on your child’s needs and interests, or on outside pressures and expectations?

🧘 What small changes could you make to add more breathing room into your family’s summer routine?

When big feelings show up, sometimes the first step is simply naming them.

📍“I’m overwhelmed.”
📍“I feel disconnected.”
📍“I need a pause.”

Naming our emotions can help calm the nervous system and reconnect us to choice. What’s one word that describes how you’re feeling in this moment?

We love summer! It's an awesome time to be outside and with our community. Community is more than just a connection, it's the reminder that we don't have to carry life alone. For families, being part of a supportive network brings shared joy, relief in hard times, and the feeling of being seen. Whether it's a neighbor, a cousin, or a trusted friend, our community offers us a soft place to land and breathe. In community, we thrive together.
