🌿 How the Body Naturally Prepares for Death
Many people don’t realize this, but the body often gently prepares itself for death.

Dying is not always sudden.

In many cases, the body slowly begins to let go in its own natural way.

As a death doula, these are some of the common changes I see near the end of life:
✨ Sleeping more – The body is conserving energy.
✨ Less interest in food or water – This is a natural part of the process.
✨ More quiet or inward focus – Many people begin withdrawing and reflecting.
✨ Changes in breathing – Breathing may become irregular or slower.
✨ Cool hands and feet – Circulation shifts as the body prioritizes vital organs.

For loved ones, these changes can feel frightening if you don’t know what’s happening.

But very often, this is simply the body doing what it was designed to do.

Even in these final days, there can still be connection, love, and meaningful moments.

Holding a hand.
Speaking softly.
Simply being present.

Those things matter more than you might imagine. 🤍
