In case you didn't know, i am proud to host Boston Children's Hospital Answers Parentcast PODCAST.... During each episode I have the opportunity to ask questions that most parents want answers to related to pediatric healthcare topics from our amazing experts at Boston Children's. I hope you will join me in watching, listening, and learning! I will share different topics on a monthly basis: This one is timely as Tick season is gearing up across the US. Ticks are tiny, but the worry they bring can feel huge, especially when it comes to Lyme disease. In this episode, Dr. Arnold talks with pediatric neurologist Dr. Molly Wilson Murphy about what every parent should know to keep kids safe while enjoying the outdoors. Earth Day always feels a little more meaningful through the eyes of my kids. Watching them run get completely lost in the wonder of the world around them is the best reminder of what’s at stake.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, but these moments slow me down. They remind me that this beautiful planet isn’t just ours—it’s theirs too. And protecting it isn’t some abstract idea
it’s about preserving the joy, curiosity, and simple magic they experience every time they step outside.

Today feels like a good day to pause, reflect, and recommit—because the little things we do now shape the world they’ll grow up in. 🌎💚

Happy Earth Day.

✈ Flying with infants and kids? Let’s talk about it.

As a pediatrician (and a mom who’s done her fair share of travel!), I get a lot of questions about whether air travel is safe for little ones. The good news: for most infants and children, it is safe—but there are a few important things to keep in mind.

đŸ‘¶ Timing matters

* Healthy newborns should ideally wait at least 1–2 weeks before flying
* Babies with chronic lung or heart conditions should check in with their doctor first

👂 Ear pain is real (and common!)
Pressure changes—especially during descent—can be tough on little ears.
Helpful tricks:

* Infants: nurse or take a bottle
* Older kids: chew, sip, or swallow (snacks help!)
* Pacifiers work great too

đŸš« Skip the medications
Decongestants and antihistamines are not recommended for preventing ear pain in kids—and can have side effects. Simple strategies work best here.

đŸ’ș Safety first—always
The safest place for your child on a plane is in an FAA-approved car seat or restraint system. Turbulence can be unpredictable, and laps aren’t as safe as we’d like to think.

💧 Don’t forget the basics

* Keep kids well hydrated
* Be mindful of illness (especially GI bugs)
* Expect some sleep disruption with time changes

đŸ©ș A quick reality check
Most in-flight medical issues are related to underlying conditions. If your child has a chronic illness, a quick conversation with your pediatrician before travel is always a good idea.

Traveling with kids isn’t always easy—but with a little preparation, it can be safe, smooth, and even fun.

Feeling incredibly honored today to be giving a talk at a hospital that is so near and dear to my heart—one where both Bill and I have been patients.

Today I get to show up wearing my physician hat (not my patient hat 😉) to talk about something I care deeply about: disability, health equity, inclusion, and the importance of having clinicians and physicians with disabilities in medicine. Representation matters—not just for providers, but for every patient who deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood.

I’m excited
and yes, maybe just a little nervous presenting in a place where I may or may not have previously been
 let’s just say
a bit more “underdressed” on the OR table 😂

But truly, it’s a privilege to share my story and be part of this conversation. Grateful to be here, and even more grateful for the journey that brought me to this moment. 💙

I mean
I love a good birthday moment, but THIS one? I win. 😄

Will’s big birthday request: a trip to see his favorite team, the Boston Celtics play tonight
and he chose MOM to go with him. Sorry, Dad đŸ€·â€â™€ïžđŸ’š

There’s nothing better than getting to share what your kids love—especially when it involves basketball, a little birthday magic, and maybe some extra snacks along the way.
I guess we are official Bostonians now!

Let’s go Celtics!! â˜˜ïžđŸ€

Snow. In. April. ❄

As a Florida girl, I feel personally attacked by this weather 😂 I packed away the winter coats, mentally moved on to sunshine, and yet
 here we are.

Boston, I love you—but this is not the plot twist I signed up for.

Anyone else ready for spring to actually commit? đŸŒ·

Happy Easter to all who celebrate! 🐣🌾

From our family to yours—sending lots of love (and a little chocolate-induced chaos 😄).

Back in the day, Easter morning meant Will and Zoey racing to see what the Easter Bunny left behind—wide eyes, big excitement, and baskets emptied before breakfast.

Now? Well
let’s just say teenagers have a slightly different approach:
“Wait
 it’s Easter?”
Followed by a later-than-expected appearance and a very strategic review of the candy situation 😂

But even as things change, some things don’t. They still show up, still smile (sometimes 😜), and yes
 the chocolate still disappears.

Watching Will and Zoey grow into the amazing young people they are is the greatest gift of all—even if the Easter Bunny has to work a little harder to compete with sleep these days.

Traditions may evolve, but the love, laughter, and family time mean everything 💛

Wishing you all a joyful, meaningful, and maybe slightly chocolate-covered Easter 🐰
