Lizards and snakes and turtles, oh my! What a fantastic day we had with Naturalist Lauren from the Missouri Department of Conservation! Her presentation, "Reptiles of MO," was a hit with our residents and staff. She brought along snakes and turtles, and shared fascinating insights about reptiles in Missouri. Everyone loved it! Thank you Missouri Depeartment of Conservation! 🐍🐢

Yesterday was our last day of National Nursing Home Week! 🎉

Our theme Friday, “Stars, Stripes, and Songs” Our staff enjoyed wearing red, white, and blue, and we took some classic photos with a patriotic backdrop! We concluded the week with a fantastic show featuring Hugh, a refreshing soda station, and a delicious staff BBQ catered by Salt + Smoke! What a perfect way to end the week! 🌟🇺🇸🎶

“Golden Memories, Art, and Audio” 🎨

Yesterday, we enjoyed delightful face painting, sipped on refreshing lemonade, listened to peaceful hymns, and shared heartwarming moments listening to family audios on the radio. Seeing everyone's smiles and hearing their laughter was the highlight of our day. Cheers to more joyful memories together during National Nursing Home Week! 🩷

Day 3 of National Nursing Home Week: Wiz Quiz Wednesday! An exciting day filled with trivia, games, and a chocolate fountain!

We started off the day with Jeopardy Joe and hosted our own McClay Staff Family Feud Game Show. Our residents enjoyed being part of our live studio audience. What a fun day! 😊

What a great way to kick off National Nursing Home Week at McClay Senior Care! This year’s theme is ‘Radiant Memories - A Tribute to the Golden Age of Radio’ 📻

Monday, May 13th- “Shake, Rattle, and Roll”. We had a Rock ‘n’ Roll Diner, dancing, and a Sock Hop Social with root beer floats.

What a great way to wrap up the month with our No -Shave November! Special thank you to Tapered stylists, Zoe and Lilly for making these incredible transformations. Any staff member or resident that chose to participate in No-Shave November received a haircut to support Prostate Cancer Research.

McClay is excited to announce that we have partnered with Tapered throughout the month of November to support Prostate cancer.

We will be sponsoring any staff member or resident that chooses to participate for the entire month. On the 30th we will be joined by the Tapered stylists for anyone that has participated in No-Shave November!

SUCCESS STORY

Royalin was admitted to McClay Senior Care for rehabilitation services on March 3rd. She came to us with multiple medical complications including severely infected lower leg wounds from blocked arteries causing septic shock, inoperable large hiatal hernia causing compression on her heart and stomach leading to aspiration pneumonia and requiring a feeding tube. Royalin also had medical complications of chronic kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis, heart failure and hypertension.

When Royalin arrived from the hospital she required maximum assistance for all activities of daily living including dressing, toileting, moving in bed, and getting into a chair. She required significant nursing care including continuous tube feeding, foley catheter care, and daily dressing changes for her wounds.

Royalin made significant progress over the course of her stay at McClay and is returning home thanks to the excellent nursing care and therapy she received! Today she is independent with all daily activities including transfers into bed/chair, dressing and toileting. She is walking 60 feet with a walker and up and down 6 steps with no physical assistance needed. Nursing staff have trained Royalin to complete her own tube feedings! She also only requires dressing changes to her legs 3 times a week due to the excellent work of our wound team!

Royalin attributes her recovery to the excellent interdisciplinary care she received at McClay, stating, “I couldn’t do it without you girls. You are gems. It’s (McClay) a wonderful place to get well in.”

We are so happy for Royalin to return home independently and wish her the greatest success on her continued road to recovery!
