A new year is a powerful time to reflect and reset. Many women carry an invisible mental load—placing others first, minimizing their own needs, and pushing through instead of asking for support— at the same time moving past accomplishments without giving themselves credit.

Mental health is a vital part of overall health. As you look at this list, choose one or two patterns you recognize and begin the process of “unlearning” them this year. Small changes matter- meaningful change starts with small steps and support is available. You deserve care that includes your mind, your voice, and your well-being.

Happy New Year!

Consider this a doctor’s note from our office for your health, happiness, and sanity:

✨ Don’t put it down… put it away!
✨ If you drop it, pick it up.
✨ If you use it, return it.

Clutter = stress. Stress = no fun.

Print it, post it, or screenshot it for your fridge—tag family & friends who need a gentle (or not-so-gentle 😏) nudge. Let’s make 2026 the year of less mess, less stress, and more fun!

💗 Start 2026 Strong: Preventive Health Appointments Every Woman Should Schedule 💗

Preventive care isn’t about waiting until something feels wrong—it’s about protecting your health at every stage of life. Many serious conditions have no early symptoms, and routine screenings allow issues to be caught early, when treatment is most effective. No matter your age, preventive care is one of the most important investments you can make in yourself.

As you start the new year, make your health a priority by scheduling these essential appointments:

◾️Gynecology (GYN) Visit
• Pap test starting at age 21
• HPV testing as recommended
• Breast exam and breast health discussions
• STI screening based on age and risk
• Birth control, menstrual, fertility, and hormone care

◾️Primary Care / Annual Wellness Visit
• Blood pressure, weight, BMI
• Cholesterol and diabetes screening
• Mental health, lifestyle, and safety check-ins

◾️Dermatologist / Skin Check
• Full-body skin exam, especially with sun exposure or changing moles

◾️Dental Appointment
• Cleaning and exam 1–2 times per year

◾️Eye Exam
• Routine vision and eye health screening

💗 Making time for preventive care means taking control of your health—not just for today, but for the years ahead. Start 2026 by putting yourself first. Your health deserves it.

Pregnancy brings many changes that are completely normal — even though they often catch people by surprise. Here are several medically expected, evidence-supported symptoms and experiences:

• Early fatigue + nausea
Caused by rising hCG and progesterone, which affect the immune and digestive systems.

• Mild cramping
A normal result of uterine growth and stretching ligaments, as long as it’s not severe or paired with heavy bleeding.

• Mood changes
Hormonal shifts affect neurotransmitters like serotonin, making emotional changes common and expected.

• Food aversions
More common than cravings and believed to help protect mom and baby.

• Increased discharge
Leukorrhea is normal and healthy due to increased estrogen and blood flow to the cervix.

• Pregnancy brain fog
Research shows measurable changes in the areas of the brain related to memory and multitasking.

• Mixed emotions or delayed bonding
Many people don’t feel connected right away — and there is no “right” timeline.

If you’re experiencing any of these, remember: you’re not alone, you’re not imagining it, and most of these changes are simply part of the body adapting to pregnancy.

If symptoms feel severe or concerning, always reach out to one of our providers — we’re here to help you feel supported, informed, and confident every step of the way.

What part of pregnancy surprised you the most — good or challenging?

For years, breast milk was thought of as simple nutrition — calories in, growth out.
But research has revealed something far more remarkable.

Thanks to the work of Dr. Katie Hinde, a scientist who studies how mothers’ bodies support babies, we now know that breast milk is dynamic and responsive. It changes by time of day, stage of feeding, and a baby’s needs. When a baby begins to get sick, signals during nursing can prompt the mother’s body to adjust her milk — increasing immune cells and antibodies tailored to that moment. When the baby recovers, the milk shifts back.

This isn’t coincidence.
It’s communication.

Breast milk also contains hundreds of bioactive components that support immune health and development. Every mother’s milk is unique — shaped by her body, her environment, and her baby.

These discoveries invite us to marvel at how extraordinary women’s bodies truly are. Through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and lactation, the female body adapts, protects, and responds with incredible precision — often without recognition or celebration.

Whether feeding happens through breastfeeding, pumping, combination feeding, or formula, understanding this science helps us better support women through every stage of care.

Starting your day with gentle stretches can make a big difference in how you feel physically and mentally. Stretching first thing in the morning, wakes up your body, improves flexibility and posture, boosts mood, and energy, and eases stiffness and stress.

Easy “Still-in-Bed” Morning Stretches

1. Full-Body Reach
Lie on your back and stretch your arms overhead, pointing your toes in the opposite direction. Inhale deeply, lengthen your body, and exhale slowly.
→ Boosts circulation and gently awakens your core.

2. Knees-to-Chest Hug
Pull both knees toward your chest and hug them tightly. Rock side to side.
→ Relieves lower back tension and soothes the spine.

3. Spinal Twist
With knees bent, drop both to one side while keeping your shoulders flat. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides.
→ Stretches the waist and back, supports digestion.

4. Inner Thigh & Hip Opener
Bring the soles of your feet together (like a butterfly) and let your knees fall outward.
→ Releases tight hips and improves circulation in the lower body.

5. Neck & Shoulder Rolls (Seated or Lying Down)
Gently roll your shoulders back, then forward. Tilt your head side to side.
→ Reduces neck stiffness and tension from sleeping posture.

Do you feel this is something you can work into your mornings?
