Cheers to the weekend… May the coffee be hot and the morning start later than usual.

Gender disappointment —it’s going to be okay.

The struggle is real. There could be tears for days or even weeks. There could be a quiet sense of embarrassment or shame, because you know how truly blessed you are—but that sadness is still there.

Here’s what’s important to know: feeling disappointed doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful. It doesn’t mean you’ll love your baby any less. You’re simply grieving the version of your family you had pictured in your mind, or the experiences you imagined having with a child of the opposite gender.

Some parents choose to wait until birth to find out their baby’s gender. Others find out during an ultrasound, or blood tests.

So… who waited? Who couldn’t resist?

It’s okay to feel your feelings. You are allowed to grieve, and you are allowed to feel joy at the same time. Every parent’s journey is different, and all of these feelings are normal, valid, and okay.

Most importantly: a healthy pregnancy, a thriving baby, and a happy momma are what truly matter—and that’s what we all want.

International Women’s Day- March 8th

It’s a celebration and it’s a reminder.

A reminder of the strength carried quietly.
The battles fought without recognition.
The barriers broken—and the ones still standing.

Women show up every day with courage, with compassion, with an unshakable resilience that shapes families, workplaces, and communities in ways that can’t always be seen—but are always felt.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” reminds us that in lifting others, we rise too.
In supporting, encouraging, and empowering one another—we create something stronger than any one of us alone.

💜 Purple, the color of International Women’s Day, represents justice, dignity, and unwavering strength—the very qualities women embody every day.

Today, we honor every story. The loud- the quiet- the unfinished ones.
Drop one word in the comments that represents what being a woman means to you.
Because every word holds a story.
And every story matters.

Here’s to the strength, the grace, and the unstoppable spirit of women everywhere. 💜

Treat them like you treat your phone…

You touch it all day.
You take it everywhere.
You notice when it’s missing.
You look at it constantly.
You give it your time—without even thinking.

But here’s the truth…
We don’t accidentally give our phones that kind of attention.
We choose it.

So here’s a question worth asking…
* Do you have ground rules for phone and screen use—for everyone in your family?

Not just the kids.
All of us.

When do we put them down?
When are we fully present?
What moments matter enough to be uninterrupted?

Because a little more intention can change everything—
More eye contact.
More conversation.
More connection.

Your spouse. Your children. Your loved ones.
They don’t need perfection…
but they do need your attention.

Science shows what we already feel— real connection lowers stress, builds trust, and strengthens our hearts and homes.

Put the phone down —let’s be more intentional with the people we love. Give your best to who matters most.

The Golden Hour is the first hour after birth, and it’s a powerful time for both mom and baby. This uninterrupted time together supports bonding, helps babies feel calm and secure, and allows their bodies to naturally adjust to life outside the womb.

For moms, the Golden Hour can promote recovery and emotional connection, while also helping establish early feeding routines. Partners can often be part of this special moment too, creating meaningful first memories as a family.

If you’re expecting, talk with your care team about incorporating the Golden Hour into your birth plan. Those first moments matter.

To the women who remind everyone else to take care of themselves…it’s your turn ❤️,

As Heart Health Month comes to a close, we wanted to share a final message from our hearts to yours. Every day, we have the privilege of caring for extraordinary women.
Women who manage households, careers, families, and the countless invisible details of life.

You make the appointments.
You remember what everyone needs.
You carry the mental load for so many.

Yet when it comes to your own health, we so often hear:
“I’m too busy.”
“I’ll schedule it later.”
“I’m sure it’s nothing.”

What concerns us most is this: heart disease counts on that delay.

Many women believe heart disease looks like a sudden, dramatic chest-clutching moment.
But often, it doesn’t. Symptoms in women can be quiet and easily dismissed as stress, aging, or simply being tired — unusual fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, or discomfort in the jaw, neck, or back.

These whispers matter. Please listen to your body when it whispers, and don’t wait for it to demand attention.

We also see many women fear breast or ovarian cancer, which is completely understandable. But the reality is that more women lose their lives to heart disease — and it can begin shaping your health much earlier than expected. The habits built in your 20s, 30s, and 40s truly matter.

Awareness saves lives.
Prevention saves lives.
Checkups save lives.

So as February comes to an end, consider this your gentle reminder to rewrite the story:
*Make the appointment.
*Ask the questions.
*Know your numbers.
*Prioritize your health.

Taking care of yourself is not selfish — it is a powerful act of leadership for the people who love and depend on you.

It is our honor to care for you, support you, and walk alongside you in your health journey.
You matter. Your heart matters. And your health deserves attention — this month and always.

With care,

Nurse Practitioners Julie Schweitzer, Angela Warner, Marcy Haley, and Dr. Janet Matuszek &
Dr. Megan Mohrman

Heart disease doesn’t start at 65. It starts with the habits you build in your 20s, 30s, and 40s.

One of the biggest misconceptions we see is younger women assuming heart health is something to worry about “later”.

But prevention is not a future decision. It’s a lifelong investment.
Pay attention now to:
*Blood pressure.
*Cholesterol
*Nutrition
*Physical activity
*Stress levels
*Sleep

Small choices compound overtime.

The strongest form of healthcare is proactive, not reactive. Your future is being shaped by the care you choose today. Share this with a daughter, sister, or friend because it is never too early to protect your heart.

🐾 Today is National LOVE Your Pet Day! 🐾

Pets enrich our lives in so many ways—and science backs it up! Loving a pet isn’t just good for the heart, it’s good for your health too. ❤️

The benefits of loving a pet include:
• Keeping us active (especially our canine babies)
• Reducing stress and improving mood—there’s real healing power in touch that lowers heart rate and releases feel-good hormones like oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine
• Being the ultimate social icebreaker
• Encouraging responsibility and daily routine
• Helping lower the likelihood of developing allergies in young children, according to clinical studies

We know there are some seriously pampered fur babies (and furless 😉) out there…
Show us your snuggles!

Babies are born with tiny, developing immune systems, and with flu season being especially rampant here in Missouri, extra precautions are sometimes necessary.

Emergency rooms across our area are currently overflowing with patients affected by multiple variants of the flu. During times like this, families may choose to limit— or even pause— visits altogether. This is especially important when visitors have children in the school system, as many viruses are contagious before symptoms ever appear. While handwashing is essential, it may not always be enough to fully protect a newborn.

To help set, loving and healthy boundaries, we’re sharing this new baby visitor guide.

And to our newborn parents— you are absolutely allowed to decide who meets your baby and when without guilt, explanation, or apology. Protecting your newborn, honoring your recovery, and following your instinct is not being rude or overprotective— it’s being a parent. We fully support you in doing what feels right for your family.

Thank you for helping us create the safest, healthiest start for our newest arrivals.
