As we close out the 1910s theme at the Goldton, we captured the spirit of the era with these beautiful vintage-style portraits. It’s been such a joy blending history, creativity, and laughter as our residents traveled back in time, proving that fun has no age!

As a sweet nod to the 1910s, our residents got creative during Arts & Crafts and made these beautiful doily bowls! Inspired by the delicate lace designs that were popular in the early 20th century, everyone enjoyed shaping, stiffening, and designing their own unique piece. The smiles were just as lovely as the finished creations!

Joan is our Resident of the Month, and her life story is truly inspiring. Born and raised in Miami, Joan attended a two-year college before being recruited by the government at just 19 years old, which took her to Washington, D.C. There, she built an impressive career, working for the US Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration.
Joan later married a Navy serviceman, and together they embraced a life of travel and adventure, living in places such as Key West, Virginia, Cuba, and Hawaii. During this time, Joan welcomed her two daughters, Patti Jo and Karianne, who remain her pride and joy.
Joan’s career with the Department of Transportation led her to many opportunities and many cities lived in. She later settled in St. Petersburg and retired as an Air Traffic Control Specialist. Joan is also a proud grandmother to four grandchildren.
In her free time, Joan has always loved decorating and gardening, talents that reflect her creativity and care. We are honored to have her as part of our community and celebrate her remarkable journey this month!

Thank you to Vickie from Holy Cross Catholic Church for joining us and providing a beautiful blessing of the ashes in honor of Ash Wednesday. We are so grateful for the time she spent with our residents, bringing comfort, faith, and meaningful tradition to our community.

Our Memory Care residents had a wonderful time creating their very own Valentine’s treat mix! Using Teddy Grahams, marshmallows, M&M’s, and other sweet goodies, everyone scooped, mixed, and shared lots of laughter along the way.
This hands-on activity not only satisfied a sweet tooth but also sparked smiles, conversation, and joyful moments together. It’s amazing how something simple and sweet can bring so much happiness to everyone’s faces! 💕
