In the first half of the 1900s, modern air conditioning was not something that was widely used as it wasn’t invented until 1902. This led to the popularity of hand fans. Made from heavy card stock and a simple wooden handle, they were a staple on hot summer days. As part of our 1900’s theme we created our own paper fans! They turned out beautifully! #1900

The banana split was invented in 1904, right in the heart of the 1900s! 🍌🍨
What better way to explore the decade than by learning a little history and enjoying a sweet treat together? As part of our Through the Decades with Atlas journey, residents traveled back to 1900–1909 while savoring a classic banana split. A delicious way to bring history to life!

Our residents rang in the New Year with a party to remember featuring Jelvis! There was singing, dancing, and plenty of smiles as we welcomed 2026 together. A great time was truly had by all! Happy New Year! ✨

As we wrap up 2025, we’re also wrapping up our Around the World with Atlas journey! This year, residents explored different countries through fun activities, music, cultural experiences, and tasting new foods, all without leaving home.
A special shout-out to our Resident Puzzler, who completed and displayed a themed puzzle each month for everyone to enjoy! Residents also collected monthly travel charms by attending activities, creating a meaningful keepsake of their journey around the world.
What an amazing year of learning, laughter, and connection. Thank you to everyone who made this adventure so special! We can’t wait to embark on our next adventure Through the Decades with Atlas!

We’re proud to celebrate Dedrick Cox, who has been a dedicated member of our dietary team for the past two years. Dedrick is known for his reliability, positive attitude, and willingness to jump in wherever he’s needed—whether that means helping teammates, picking up extra shifts, or supporting our residents with a smile.
Recently, Dedrick began training to become a part time cook, and he’s already excelling in his new role here at The Goldton. His enthusiasm, hard work, dedication, and commitment to growth truly embodies the spirit of our community.
We’re so excited to see all that Dedrick will continue to accomplish in the future. Thank you, Dedrick, for everything you do for our residents, our team, and The Goldton family!

Brad was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. After high school, he set out for adventure and moved to San Diego, where he proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He loved the area so much that he stayed for 20 years, working as a bartender while earning his degree from San Diego State University.

After graduation, Brad moved to Florida and began a rewarding career as a middle school English teacher in Tarpon Springs. He was also an active leader, serving on the executive board of the teachers’ union. Brad and his wife raised two wonderful sons, Nathan and David, who still live nearby in the St. Petersburg area.

These days, Brad enjoys watching all kinds of sports, reading (he has recently joined our new book club), catching a good movie, and spending quality time with his family. His easygoing personality and warm spirit make him a joy to have in our community!
