The Registered Herbalist program was created to give dedicated herbalists the professional recognition they deserve for their ability to practice Clinical Herbalism. In the United States, herbalists currently have no formal license to distinguish between the wide spectrum of herbal practices, from casual hobbyists to highly trained clinical practitioners. This lack of differentiation makes it difficult for the public to know who is truly qualified to work with herbs in a therapeutic, clinical setting.

The Registered Herbalist designation helps bridge that gap by honoring those who have met rigorous standards in clinical herbal training and practice. The American Herbalists Guild is working to grow this standard and recognition and uphold the integrity of our future as herbalist.
