Some call them frown lines, some call them elevens, but what everyone can agree on is that they are an unwanted nuisance. Below are the questions I hear each day regarding neurotoxins in the eleven lines and the responses I give.
Q. 🙋🏻♀️My lines are pretty deep and have been like this for years, is it even worth treating them?
A. 👩🏼⚕️If you have DEEP lines that are present at rest, it is likely that they will not completely resolve with the initial treatment. Depending on how deep and how long they have been present, they may never go completely away, even with consistent treatment, but treating these lines consistently every 3-4 months should improve the deep set lines over time to a noticeable improvement. If the lines are subtle at rest, they typically resolve with the initial treatment. Q. 🙋🏼♂️I don’t have lines here yet, but my mother/father does. Should I start early to prevent them
from forming?
A. 👩🏼⚕️In my professional opinion, no. If there are no lines at rest and the only goal is prevention, you can hold off until you start to see fine lines at rest. There are other aesthetic benefits to injecting this region though.
Q. 🙋🏽♀️Other than softening/preventing lines between the eyes, is there any other benefit to injecting the elevens?
A. 👩🏼⚕️Absolutely! 3 muscles (4 if you count the lateral brow area) are injected when you treat this area. All 4 of these muscles lift UP when in the relaxed position. Injecting the glabellar region (aka elevens) can; give a brow lift, open the eyes more to appear better rested and slightly lift the eyelid tissue. It also makes the skin texture appear a little smoother.
