Is your stomach pain appendicitis?

While treatable, appendicitis is a medical emergency that almost always requires surgery.

Consult a healthcare provider immediately if you experience the following symptoms:

* Pain on the lower-right-hand side of the abdomen
* Nausea or vomiting
* Difficulty moving
* Low-grade fever
* Constipation

Seek treatment early to reduce your risk of the appendix rupturing. A reminder that the appendix is a non-essential organ that we can live just fine without.

Desk job? Be sure to keep active

Plenty of Americans work at a desk. While comfortable in theory, sitting down for hours on end can be overwhelming for the heart.

This is why it’s important to take action and literally get moving. Exercising during your lunch hour, breaking a sweat before or after work, and taking just five minutes every hour or so to stretch can go a long way in improving your health.

Balance is the body’s ability to stay upright and steady. But what contributes to good balance? A number of sensory systems, including our vision, inner ear, and joint receptors, allow us to remain in a given position without falling over. From there, the neuromuscular system can synthesize this information, helping us work toward better balance.

Here are some tips to consider when shopping for sunscreen:

Select a sunscreen with broad spectrum protection, which covers both UVA and UVB rays.
Choose a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher.
Remember that a water-resistant label doesn’t mean your sunscreen is waterproof.

Be sure to reapply your sunscreen as needed—at least every two hours, and more often if you’re perspiring or swimming.

3 tips to treat eye strain

1. Use proper lighting.
Eye strain often is caused by excessively bright light either from outdoor sunlight coming in through a window or from harsh interior lighting.
2. Minimize glare.
Glare from light reflecting off walls and finished surfaces, as well as reflections on your computer screen also can cause computer eye strain.
3. Blink more often.
Blinking is very important when working at a computer; it moistens your eyes to prevent dryness and irritation.

Struggling to manage your screen time?

Concerned about the amount of time your child is spending on their device?

Here are some strategies that may help:

• Hold yourself accountable.
Either alone or with loved ones, commit to keeping your screen time under a specific number of hours each day.

• Assign a phone-free room.
Making the dining room a phone-free zone is a wonderful starting point. It’ll help your family connect better during mealtimes.

• Opt outside.
Leave your phone at home (or turn on airplane mode) and take a walk outdoors. This’ll work wonders for your mood and overall well-being.
